Will pets ever hold aggro again?

I just would like to know so I could make some decisions....

One of the fixes coming will be to the Hate system and its lack of hate towards Pets and droids. This was posted to us in beta at the very end.

Basically they will add something in the system so that pets and droids will be able to keep the "hate" just a bit longer.

This has been discussed a bit. A number of people are successfully getting pets to tank.

Here's a few tips:

1) Don't spam high damage attacks, give a little pause to let the damage they do work up to your amount. Do some normal attacks, do state change attacks. As a fencer I'll draw aggro if I do body hit, body hit back to back, but not if I give it a few seconds in between.

2) Use the highest damage/level pet you can and put it in a rage to up the damage even more.

Maybe there's some other stuff, but Ihave neverdrawn aggro til I want to. And if the fight has been going for a while, it actually becomes hard for me to draw aggro. I'm a fencer, but I've heard similar posts from riflemen.

Translation:

1) Since pets do wimpy damage always use default attack

2) Enrage the pets so they get incapped faster

3) Let the pet get take all the damage while you do very little...you need that 10 min in pet healing after the battle to go smoke a cigarette to wake up after that long battle doing default attack.

i am having no trouble keeping things off of me with my pets, and they don't get incapped either, now that most likely is associated with myself being a pistoleer, i dont overly outdamage my pet like rifleman did. if i give my pets a few extra seconds to piss the creature off they hold agro for 3/4 of the fight.

You don't have to use default if you don't spam high damage. I still use body hit in there. And I only wait til it's at half damage, then start spamming cause they'll be dead soon after they switch to hitting me anyway.

My pets have not gotten incapped yet. I've always been able to switch aggro before that. If they are down75%, that'll heal faster than my 10% damage.

As a fencer I have knockdown which helps keep aggro off when I start the high damagespam. As a rifle you have the option of going BH 0010and gettingknockdown for 11 skill points.

So basically, a rifleman/CH has no chance. You have to have another combat profession.

I am lvl 80, the gurks I was taking on were lvl 80. Pets were NOT getting incapped, I was not getting incapped.

Strategery.

Group with the pet. Send the pet in, at a MCH lvl, take them on ONE at a time. Let the pet hurt them for a bit, get to max range. When the creatures are at half health, do specials. Do different states. By the time it reaches you, it WILL drop.

I am only able to call level 41 pets at 4-4-2-1 CH. They nerfed my pets from 9k HAM to 4500K. The don't even last against level 32 creatures..... The don't do half damage and if they did it would take a hour for them to do it....

sorry, don't smoke. Of course, you will want to fire away at whatever your target is. Your target will be getting damage from two sources, you AND your pet. Just do normal damage and it should be fine.

Taking out LVL 80's is just as easy as it was before (rather, shall i say 'equal or greater lvl challenges? Before the CU, it was a cake walk to take out Bull Ranc lairs unbuffed and unarmored.) , just needs a bit of adjustment to getting used specials and the little game issues, such as no peace for lairs.

(oh, the regen rates of the pets is INCREDIBLY fast, there really is not much waiting involved. By the time I finished with one creature and moved on to the next one, my pet would be either all the way healed or almost all the way healed.)
