Thread: Need cheering up ... the 3 main reasons I became CH

I really need cheering up ... I need someone to tell me that it will all turn out fine in the end.

I became Master CH 10 months ago, and although I was not a strong fighter, I had a lot of fun, finding and taming rare pets, or simply exploring.

The3 main reasons I became a Creature Handler were:

- to discover and tame many different pets with interesting stat variations ... this is now broken

- to be able to enjoy travelling around with my pets flying/running by my side ... this is now broken

- to have pets to tank for me as I popped away with my gun ... this is now broken

Oh, and while I am about it,I may as well mention the 4 very cool BE pets made for me by mates ... all now broken.

I was so upset with what has happened to our profession thatI respecced out of it ... but with my very last respec, I came back, I missed it too much ... it was after all one of the interesting professions that used to make SWG special. I went out exploring/hunting today ... my pets could not keep up, they could not tank properly because as soon as I fired my rifle (am only RM 0200) the mobs turned on me, and every "new" baby I tamed had identical statistics.

Someone, please tell me things will get better ...

I'm looking for the same thing. The only reason I haven't left MCH is because, I really am not interested by any other professions.

I am with you here so I will try to give my perspective on this, *deep breath* here goes.

*It seems that some animals have become rarer as of late, not counting the extinct "elites" i.e. GPS

I had at the time of the CU about 90% BE pets and now after the CU I have 3 of those left, my goal currentlyis theme or weird pets.

I will drop everything at the chance of a rare tame however as that is my secondary goal.

I tamed a Mawgax and let it grow fully but never used it (I wanted to tame it as a mond however...) I let it go never seeing combat.

I look at this now like Bass fishing, you only keep the real real good ones to show off but catch as many as you can.

I set aside half of my datapad for the "must keep" pets of course this can change at my descretion

That is my suggestion for point 1, get some varied pets that you have never had before.

*I'd love to suggest something for point 2 but yer right its broke...

*Tanking is a bit different now after being struck with the super star destroyer sized nerf that we have experienced.

You gotta trust the pet(s), I know its hard and sometimes doesn't work too well but I am getting better practised.

**Hint don't disown me for this but buy a crate of battle bots, I typically fight with 2 30ish pets and an 18 bot. It really really helps.

Let the pets get good aggro and then start firing, cap off a few then hit Esc to get offthe target and when the mob is close to death (25%) spam your specials.

I feel for ya M8 and hope this helps a bit.

Thank you for your reply.

Well, I had already considered getting a droid ... but very quickly decided against it ... I am a Creature Handler !

By the way, whileI am whinging ... not only are our pets now unable to follow us unless we walk ... but on top of that, have you noticed that they now walk sideways like crabs when attempting to follow ?

I stole the following quote below from another player in another post but it sums up the state of the current CH profession ... and by the way, I left CH a long time ago and came back with the respec option and have never had as much fun as I'm having now ... even with all the bugs ... no no no let's call them "undocumented software features"

Combat droids get a bad rap. Sure, they're no rancor, but a well-built probot (CL 18) has the ability to take down PvE opponents five levels higher than itself. Shooting for 150-180 damage every .75 seconds ain't too shabby. You throw in repair kits and they can take on pretty tough stuff...

Ok, ok, this is a CH forum, sorry for the hijack. But I've been a DE for many moons, so my heart is still there.

Hey, I say don't worry about this being the CH forum ... if you have read anything here you know we need (and appreciate) all the help we can get

Yup I am seeing this too, the sideways thing although it has been an issue with some pets since the first weeks of launch. (Cats mainly)

Look at the bot issue this way, you are a master with animals and due to this expertise have mastered bots as well

Trust me on this with the bots, it saves wear and tear on your babies and provides that extra bit of incap (or death) protection.

Another plus is that is is hard for a non DE to get attached to a mechanical beast...

Mins is level 18 with 5400 hitpoints and is a definate plus to my well being
