Thread: Pets and Rooting... Bugged?

This happens to me all the time when doing Gorax.
I send in my pets.
My friend roots Gorax using a Smuggler Root attack.
Whenthe pets are attacking, Gorax is able to move and attack back even though he should be in the Rooted state. (Root animation visible.)
When there are no pets attacking, Gorax stays still and won't attack back.
I don't know if this is a known issue either with the CH or Smuggler professions, but it is rather disturbing.
I'll be doing more experimenting on this issue over the weekend.
If this is a known issue, can someone please shed some light?

I can confirm this has happened to me while using stopping shot. Typically the mob is rooted, then it moves a bit and attacks, then is rerooted, while the animation is still there the whole time.

It's a server synch error. When the mob is rooted, and seems to come to you to start hitting, move away and you'll notice (a lot of the time) that it stops hitting until after the +ROOT+ goes away. I get this all the time when using Concussion Shot to root after sending my pets in to attack.
It's a known issue, related to the problem where mobs slide along the ground after you kill them. On the server, the mob is technically a lot closer to you than it appears, but the client just isn't reporting it correctly.

It might be bugged, but have you tried a pet with a ranged attack? Might work better if you told it to attack, and then stay.

I think in one of the recent patches high level mobs have a chance to completly resist specials like stopping shot and such..........
It may be half baked like most things SOE so it coule be applying the animation but not the state..................
the damn bug people in the geo caves do the same thing................
Just a guess.....
