Thread: CL and CH XP?

How does my CL figure into how much CH XP I get? I am currently CH 0211 and Master Combat Medic and Novice Carbineer, this puts me at about CL 58 I think. I am curious what kind of MOBs I should be hunting or can hunt and is the CH XP I get going to be affected by my CL like weapons XP, i.e. if I hunt MOBs below my level I get 1xp in CH.

I don't have an exact formula for how they calculate CL.

I've found it's easiest to get missions from the termials. You can only get missions that are +/- 2 cl from your current level. My suggestion is to get missions from creatures that are non-aggressive, but it's your choice. I personally hunt Gurks on Lok. Your CH xp will deffinitly be affected by character levels, so fight something around your level.

Origionally CH XP was determined by your pets CL, however it seems that the devs have changed it to be determined by player CL. At least thats what my limited testing has lead me to belive and once I figure out a way to not crash every 2-3 minutes I'll be able to do more through testing.

Hehe, and I was thinking CL = Character Level, not Creature Level.

My mistake...

Well I was sort of interchanging CL there. I guess I was curious if my xp was affected by my CL (Combat Level) or the CL (Creature Level) of the pet I am hunting with. After hunting some fambaas last night I discovered that I get very little CH xp since they are about 8 levels below me, even though my pet is CL14.

CL = (Combat Level) it dosent matter if your using it to reffer to yourself, your pet, another player, oranother players pet. Its Combat Level I.E. The Combat Level of my pet is 34 or my Combat Level is 5.

And yes it seems that CH XP is now determined by your characters CL which means that if you already have another master combat profession your going to have to use a level 12 pet against a level 50 opponent and since CH XP is calculated based on the ammount of damage your pet does to the MOB CH is now offically harder to grind than Jedi.

Harder to grind than jedi? Are you kidding? Do you have a low level padawan and have you tried to grind since the CU? I"ve got an alt that I'm trying to grind up now on CH and have been getting XP in the 1k range from most kills (I have so far hunted solo), and in a group, you can get a very low level pet on a very high level mob.

Jedi must hunt alone or lose XP to BHs (since EVERYONE seems to be a BH in the respec). I can kill mobs up to 8 levels above mine (CL62, killing CL 70) and the most XP I can get as a paddy is 864 (with the 10% inspiration buff) while the fight requires spamming thebasic hit/force heal/special/force heal/etc., hoping not to run out of heal OR force before it goes down. Put this together with the fact that you must grind out 10 branches of XP with each box requiring higher XP...No contest.

CH is tougher than most elite profs, but not harder than jedi...LOL

But is it still based on how much damage the pet does? I was hunting on Rori with my guildies using a newly tamed wrix and it survived fine when I kept my eye on it, but I was getting like 10k-12k xp per MOB, hunting CL 80 MOBs. I know in a lot of those cases the pet was only gettinga few hits in and even when he did, he was only hitting for like 24 points of damage. I think the full XP in a group is working for pets too, meaning if my pet hits it once I get full CH xp when the MOB is killed.

I'm 99.99% sure that your Combat Level will affect how high of levels you can pull from the mission terminals, and how much xp you will get total for each kill as shown below.

All lvl, and xp numbers below are only examples....

Let's say you are lvl 80, and you pull a level 80 mission. You only need one hit to get the total xp for one hit (8000 xp). You get it devided by how many actions you do though. Pet attacks by itself get full ch xp (8000 ch xp). Pet attacks with you using a pistol get ch xp (6000 ch xp) + pistol xp (2000 pistol xp) but the total xp doesn't go above the total ammout you would have gotten for that MOB's level (8000 xp). Pet attacks with Pistol and healing get CH xp (4500 ch xp) + Pistol xp (3000 Pistol xp) + medic xp (500 med xp), but again the total doesn't go above the total xp (8000).

I hope that makes sense. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's how it works.

that would be consistent with the XP I was getting, since I was in a full group I really didnt use my carbine at all, just my pet. So to summarize:

It appears you get CH xp based on the player's CL vs. the CL of the MOB you are fighting, regardless of your pet's CL.

This XP will be full CH xp unless it is divided between weapons XP from any other attack you are using.

Does this sound right?

Last time I checked the Grouping XP thing wasnt working. Im glad to see its been fixed because without that it really would be a harder grind than Jedi (I said harder not longer)
