anyone been succesful at soling these bad boy?
I use my normal high lvl hunt combo of Great plains Stalker and of course my special rancor along with a nice 4k ham probot and a Storm troope r commando. With this combo i can hunt gorax , albotross and kryats with minimal risk. Seem to when out around 75% of the time. However using this combo and a friend whom is only lvl 53 but should be at 80 since hes grouped with me; i cant beat the Katarn. Its dmg output seems very great for a lvl 87 is it? ITs only red con yet it appears much tougher then the previous purple ocns i mentioned. Only thing ive come across tougher is the grvious protype. (I kow hes borked hes a lvl 80 and packs of jedi die to him.)
Anyways any ch succusful in this hunt or am i in over my head on this one without a group.

Katarn is an elite 82, so hes more like a level 95 , going on how other elites are bumped up in strength.
I killed it in a group last night, 6 of us, me the only CH.
It still took a little while to kill, it has large resists, my snipershots that normally hit for 2k or more were only registering 650 hits on it, using energy weapons.
Biggest danger with it is it uses AoE attacks that whack every state in the book on you , which hurts regen and all sorts now.
Id say a group of 4 could do it if planned well, but it is definately a difficult opponent.
The knuckler and trophies are a nice reward for that quest though

Ahh its an elite, i missed that... That would explain it. Guess im gonna have to call defeat on this one and find some guidies to help me.
Does every memeber of the group recive the knucklers or it a race to loot type deal?

the katarn is a CL87 ELITE, which means that in addition to the increased damage, and the special attacks, and any resistances above a normal mob, it also has a LOT more HAM than most mobs.

we did it with myself a mch/mrifle and a friend of mine a mpistol/ranger....she used stop shots andf traps to keep it at bay, my pet effectivly was a 280 bleed, and i hammered with alternating rifle shots, she hammered with pistols. if it is rooted/snared/trapped...not too bad at all...but neither of us could have done it alone, i don't think
