Thread: Taming and Mask Scent problems

Under the pre-cu system I never really had any problems taming pets out in the wild, not any kind of pets. But the last few nights I went out finially and tried to tame some new ones.

1): The number of attemps at taming has seemed to jump way up, sometimes as many as 10 tries.

2): Mask Scent seems to break much more often then before.

I tried many things, like waiting until the baby and mother moved away from the larg packs of mobs, coming from behind to attemp tame etc... After over an hr trying to get a Gaping Hunter baby I finally gave up and thought I'd ask here.

LOL you stand there with many spiders all around you and get 6 tame attemps off... bam.. run !... come back and try again, over and over.

I have added several new Bio Clothes to increase my stats but I can most likely go higher if needed.

Master BH

Master CH

Scoutt 4/0/4/0

Marksman 0/1/0/4

Medic 4/0/4/0

Novice Doc

Mask Scent +70/+104

Taming Vicious +50/+113

Taming Wild +90/+153

Also woundering if I really need to go Master Scoutt or even Ranger with Master CH in order to tame babys easyer like you find on Dath.

Thanks just asking before I trash my Template

My mask scent seems to hold as well as before, for a while I thought it was improved if anything. As for taming I noticed a slight increase in attempts myself. There was a patch recently that adjusted this giving me the impression of improvement in agressive tames and callable pets. Not sure if the actual dice roll has changed on it being succesful.

I think some of the problems with mask scent people are having is not so much how well its working but the increased spawn rates on everything everywhere, In the past you could walk up to a baby and other than the few adults around there might not be anyother lair or mob in the area. Today it seems lairs are surrounded by other lairs/mobs.

Many lower cl players get killed doing missions because the mission lair is surrounded by upper level mobs.

I think the surrounding mobs/creatures with the increased spawn rates increase your chances of breaking scent and is causing the problem.

just my two cents. But if you don't want to waste points in professions your not interested in then give it time. sooner or later they need to adjust spawn rates to something a little more realistic lol.

I hear your pain!! I had a similar experience last night when I was trying to tame a lurking angler (baby). I'm an "old-time" MCH returning to check out theCURB. Anyway, I didn't have too much problem with maskscent dropping, but I have noticed that it really depends on the mob. It seems that mobs that have a naturally wide aggro range will cause mask scent to drop unless you are laying prone and EXTREMELY cautious. I could actually walk up to the anglers and not get aggro.

Taming was altogether another issue . I have some BE taming clothes that gives me +35 taming/vicious creatures bonus (not as high as yours) but it took about 16-18 attempts at taming and about 6-7 aggros before I was able to tame this joker. So, like u, I had to maskscent/tame/run, rinse and repeat. Luckily, I was able to clear out the lair and the baby popped on last tap so no other aggro was around.

Shortly after that I did a mission for an angler lair and popped an angler recluse (baby) on the last tap of the lair. I once again cleared out the other mobs and began taming. This time I was able to tame it in the third attempt after the second attempt caused aggro. So go figure...I think it's just kind of random. Not certain if it has anything to do with CL since the lurking angler is 67 and the recluse is 68.

Bio clothes and bonusesstill cap at +25, any higher than this has no effect, might be a good idea to cap the tame clothes at +25 and get other clothing for defense and mask scent of coarse.

Had only a few Masked Scent issues last night when out questing. Other then that is was working well.

Taming seems to have a temper. Sometimes I can tame, sometimes I can't. I saw 2 Mountian Squils babies last night and it wouldn't let me tame them. But then I went to Dantooine and I tamed a Slinking Volitor Lizard baby with no problems. Weird.

Is caps still the way it was before ? I thought that had changed.

I am fine with it being hard, in fact it makes getting those pets something to really work for making them more prized and all. I am just woundering if it is working as intended is all. It does seem more of a challange now

Spawns do seem a bit over doing it, but it's more in line to how it really used to be when the game first went live. I am pretty sure thats why my mask scent breaks so often is there are mobs everywere.

Just need to up my blood pressure pills when I go out taming I guess cuz I tell ya my heart rate sure goes up LOL.

As far as tamingand scent clothing go it allcaps at +25

skill tapes like melee defense have no cap, pretty vague at this point but it would seem as though combat tapes don't cap anymore in general.
