Thread: Pet commands: the creative side
I go with the classics myself. "Sic'em!" for attack (or "Spit'em!" for a ranged attack from bagaraset or cu pa
). "Link up." for grouping and "Heading out." for follow me.
If you wanted something a little more flamboyant, how about "Crush my enemies, send them fleeing before me so I may hear the lamentations of their women." Points to those who recognize where this one came from (and no, Conan was quoting it too).
As for Indefatigable (it means "untiring" for those without a dictionary) that's an easy one. One of Horatio Hornblower's ships (check the library for books by C.S. Forrester, excellent author).
"Democracy is the worst form of government... until you consider the alternatives."
Winston Churchill
Once I get range attack worthy pets: Range attack on: Front rank present!
Attack: FIRE!
Now I hate spam as much as anyone, so I decided that if the game's forcing me to start bellowing commands, I might as well do what I did back in EQ. I made commands that had roleplay value. 'heel' 'sit' 'beg' and the like. Attack and group were more milatiristic, and I used '/loud Engage the enemy!' as the attack command. (loud is a mood, not a chat type. No city-block spamming.) I realized I liked it; it made the pet/master relationship feel solid, like I was dealing with a creature rather than an extension of my character.
Once I have good, solid pets that I know I can rely on, I'm going to give each more personalized commands.
So. With all the customizability of pet commands, does anyone else use overly complex statements that fit a theme or at least sound better than s! a! G!
I use commands like:
attack = look, a chew toy!
trick1 = good boy!
follow me = come to daddy
group = stay close
it does make for more fun but in a group people start to complain from the spam so i only use those commands out load when i am by myself.
I'm not the most creative person around, but I've gotten some serious giggles with "Play" for my attack command. Confuses the daylights out of the group the first time I use it. I've also used the obvious "Join us", "come", and "chase".
I did know a couple of different people that had a macro set up to cuss out the enemy as they pointed their critter at the target.

Guess again. I tried /tellpet on THREE seperate pets. NOTHING worked.
It fixed itself since then.
