Thread: MCH returning to game

Well, I stopped playing and paying attention back in October or so, right around when mounts came in. The "login and find the nerf of the day" routine just got tiring.

So what is the state of the class? I've been trying to read and catch up but there are so many changes. Logged on and found I can't even call my three cats at once any more because the CL's were changed.

I guess my main questions are:

Is the MCH cap still 70?

Can I still call 3 creatures at once?

Noticed I could train my Dewback as a mount, but he walked slow as heck. Is there a /run command for mounts?

With the vehicles, is there any market for mounts?

I used to use a Gurreck (CL50) as my main tank. Is he worthless now?

Can anything higher than CL50 be tamed in the wild?

Did the BE's ever get to make decent pets? If yes, whats an example of a high end pet they can make?

Thanks guys, I appreciate any info you can give to help me ramp back into the game.

Now to go learn the controls again, :/

MCH cap is 70 TOTAL. So one CL70, two CL35, or some other combination.

Yes, so long as they do not exceed a total of 70.

Mounts can gallop, which is akin to burstrun.

Mounts have all the market of a stone knife. They look cool, make cooky noises, but simply arn't fast enough.

Dev paraphrase: All creatures below CL50 are tamable as are most below 70.
Player response: Yeah. How'd you say that with a straight face?

Any decent BE pet will make a wild one look pathetic. As for examples, DNA is mix and match so you can basically make a kaadu that can perform as well as a rancor. Kinda.

As for helping you adjust: open your memories of what CH was. Remove the word uber.
Remove anything better than average.
Remove adequate.
Remove PvP.
Remove respect.
Remove about anything but hope that it can't get much worse and has a chance of getting better.

Yes

Yes, if you are still MCH. Total CL can not be greater than 70.

The command is /gallop and works like burst run. The the length of time depends on the type. Get a swoop bike. No one uses mounts because bikes are at least twice as fast and can outrun any aggro.

With the vehicles, is there any market for mounts?

No. There is some RP advantage but the BE's fill that market with souped up versions.

I used to use a Gurreck (CL50) as my main tank. Is he worthless now?

Yes, pretty much. When compared to BE pet.

Can anything higher than CL50 be tamed in the wild?

Supposedly there were new "rares" added. By "rare" they mean that you can do lairs exclusively for months and never see a baby.

Did the BE's ever get to make decent pets? If yes, whats an example of a high end pet they can make?

Yes, they are the Flavor of the Month for the Devs. They can make 12k HAM, light armor,60% kinetic resists with special attacks that are CL 35. They can also make CL 10 non-ch pets that are equal to CL 45 wild creatures. They can then put these attributes in anything from a Kimo to a Durney.

I think you will be verry dissapointed when you realize that the state of CH is now pretty worthless. Players with armor and buffs now tank better than creatures. PVP is out of the question. The only way to make money is to run destroy missions and you need another good combat skill to do that. You can not do them with CH alone. You are now the laughing stock of the community and the BE's are still crying for more nerfs like 3 incapp perma-death for pets. The Devs still hate the class and all the bugs you remember are still around plus some new ones have been added.

Oh, goody.

Thanks for the responses guys. I did notice last night that the cap on the number of creatures is now 20. I think it was 15 or so when I last played.

Over all, what I saw last night was not real encouraging. I have some boxes in Pistoleer filled and I am half way up the Ranger tree. I guess I'll finish off Ranger just for giggles, but it sounds over all like I need some more combat type skills.

Took a look for some BE pets last night as well, but wasn't overwhelmed with what I saw. Can anyone recommend a decent BE on Lowca? I'd like to see if I can round up a pet that will last against a Dark Trooper so I can try for some Holos.

Thanks again guys.
