Thread: umm... minor sludge panther?!?

got a little problem here, i am currently a wookiee ch at 2-1-1-1 and on my trip on talus encountered a minor sludge panther (about the only friggin creature from the souther city to the imp outpost). tamable : yes... but not for me.... it is supposed to be cl 10 what the heck?
also my petlevel is currently 22 (max pet level) so am i correct that i won't even be able to tame a greater sludge panther? let alone use it? kinda feels like getting laughed at all the way trying to master this profession.

Like many creatures, GSP's come in several flavours.
The Minor is low level and there's a static spawn of thesejust over the river from Dearic.
The Greater is mid level at 25 - so no, you can't tame these (yet).
There are also 'Famished' and plain 'Sludge Panthers' - although these are both aggros,
The big attraction of the GSP's used to be thier level of 23 - allowing a decent 3 pet combo for MCH's. Since publish 5 however, like most other wild pets, a BE made critter of the same level will be superior. If you don't want to shell out for a BE'd pet though the GSP is still nottoo shabby a sidekick

The one good thing about Publish 5 is that it's made the highly underused and underappreciated Crimson Razor Cat useful again, providing you have the skill to tame it.
Before, the GSP was unmatched in it's resists for such a low CL of 23. The Crimson Razor Cat was a CL29 with higher damage output and ferocity, but nearly the same HAM and poor resists.

The functionality of the "Tamable" examine item was changed recently. It no longer indicates whether that particular creature can be tamed... instead it tells you whether that species of creature ever has a chance to spawn as a baby.
In your case, was this particular creature "a minor sludge panther (baby)?" Only creatures with the (baby) tag at the end of their name can be tamed.
