Is there a way to get a pet to STOP attacking?

If I remember right (which I probably am wrong) I think you get a pet to stop attacking by using the follow me command.

Tell your petto follow you.


Now the big drawback to this is the other critter your pet was attacking might just get it into its head "I don't want to stop fighting" and follow your pet back to you. This could be good and this could be bad.
