Hello All,
I felt like I needed to post, why? not really sure, just wanted to see if anyone else felt the same..
I started the game 26 June 2003. First profession mastered was CH/Carbineer. Back then CH was cool and very powerful and it was the "in" professions. Carbineer, to me, was awesome, although the general consciouses was that it sucked. Then the nerfs of Aug/Dec 03 happened, I gave up CH to better help my guild as a Doctor/Armor smith.
To make a long story short, I am 3 box's away from mastering CH and 4 from mastering Carbineer for the 2nd time. I have received a butt load of crap from my peers, saying CH/Carb is Lame and I should do this or I should do that. But, to me, the only profession in this game that is fun is Creature Handler. It is awesome to tame a pet and then log in everyday to watch it grow. Its fun to ride around on your Giant Spat doing stupid tricks. Its a riot to see a CH yelling at his pet as if it was a real animal. Makes the game fun
I love to PVP and PVE, I know that CH's have a part in PVP. I am just not sure what or where. I mean if you have like 4 MCH's with 3 pets out each attacking people, not to mention there other professions if they are combat (Carbines, Rifle, Pistol), that has to be able to do some damage or at least create a huge distraction?
I don't see many MCH's on Bloodfin. Trying to get free training is a laugh, I have ran across 2 MCH's in the past month. As I read in an earlier post, I hope people don't flood to this profession for the hopes of increasing there solo missions, that onlyattracts the Dev's attention andbad things usually follow closely behind that.
I have been all over this game from Armor smith to Jedi, and the only profession that seems to have any "meat" is CH. So In a day or so I will be re-joining the Fellowship of the Handlers and look forward to contributing some useful dialog to these forums.
Take care and see you in the wild.

I agree, I've been Master Doctor, Master CH, Master Swordsman, Master BH, Master TK, Master Smuggler, Master Weaponsmith, Master Shipwright, tinkered with Pistoleer, Carbineer, Rifleman, Fencer, and Combat Medic. (2 separate accounts)
I've decided to stay a Master BH cause I like the title, the variation of weapons and the ability to target Health or Mind. I also enjoyed Master CH, but dropped it for a more powerful profession. (I was master Swords and master CH, but dropped CH for Doc) I am now heading back to the ranks of CH and will be a master BH/MCH. I hate not having enough skill points for novice medic, but I'll see how thatgoes. I'm doing it forfun, for that's why I play anyway.

Welcome back
As far as the CH role in PvP, um, not much as of yet. Yeah, if you could get a gang of CH with gazoodles of pets running around, that certainly would cause a distraction - at the least it would be a heck of a lot of fun. It's been myfantasy to somehow get like 20 CH each with 2 petseach then go find an overt imp and attack him with a herd of pets just for the fun of it
The reality is that CH is just not effective in PvP. The sad fact is that it would probably take 40 pets to be much of a factor. Regardless, CH is still a really fun profession.

I've been playing this game since May, and I've never really explored,
So I took my toon on Radiant (whom I'm making into a CH) on a walk.
I walked from Mos Eisley to Anchorhead. Probably some of the most fun i've ever had in SWG.
Killing and harvesting creatures for xp, seeing babies and wishing I had ch right now.
If I got hurt, I set up a camp, healed, took it down and moved on.
I'm begining to love being an outdoorsy profession, there is so much to see in this game!
It was an eye opening experience.

I'm a MCH and Master Fencer and have gotten flak for having CH. I wish I had a few more skill points so I could get another "worthless" profession: Master Dancer. But I don't so I'll stay with novice dancer and do what I want to do and still be having fun.
Congrats and welcome back into the fold.

I mastered Ch last night, and I am sooo happy to be back!! It's amazing, you pull out a pet in front of the starport and people line up asking what is that??? or they send me tells asking how can they be a CH. I have a feeling CH will be picking up new people, maybe due to solo missions or just cause we do have some cool pets.
Also, is it so bad that i like to pull out 2 of my pets and run though the cantina a few times?? hahahah (dancers get sooo pissed) hahahaha
Hope to See you's around, if you are on Bloodfin and know of a CH guild Please let me know!!
Thanks,

I agree with all these posts! It's fun to log in and pull out a pet right a way and see how big it's gotten. Once I had was in front of the c-net starport showing off with my rare pets, and a Jedi said it brought back some good memories for them and thanked me.

Well, creatures would be decent for PvP if there were no buffs. Mine can own a master TK if he is not buffed. But with buffs and good armor, they just cant produce enough damage to matter. They are a reasonable annoyance though. Can make it harder to target for the enemy.
I have maintined my CH status since the start of the game, never giving it up completely. But I rarely see any other CHs now, and have a ton of low 30s armored pets I made when I was BE that I can't even give away.
I personally think the mass exodus of CH over the past few months is due to the fact that CH exp goes toward senses line of force exp. This pretty much proves we are not a combat profession but a support profession as is scout and medic. Otherwise it would count toward one of the combat lines.
