Greetings all,

This is my second post regarding what I feel is the #1 problem with the creature handler profession at the moment. In a nutshell, this discusses the bug's involved with pets not following their masters properly, and some of the associated problems

Myinitial post can be found at:

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=creature_handler&message.id=202080&highlight=houndmb#M202080

Basically I am posting again this week to keep an awareness of this very important issue in everyone's thoughts.

Here is the gist of the dillema:

1. Creatures stop following while moving in the game world. Creatures "becom stupid" and won't follow consistently, hampering ch's ability to play the game.

2. This issue is MUCH more prevalent when using more than one pet as I found last week.

3. This bug is a game breaking issue. It makes the CH class less playable, or in instances, not playable at all.

4. The problems caused by pets not following correctly relegate CH's to a lower class character that cannot compete with other classes.

5. This bug has been in the game since launch on June 26, 2003. There have been many many additions to the game in that time. Fix your bugs before you add new stuff!

6. It has been 7 days since my initial post. Our correspondant did reply to that post, but no developer or SOE representative has responded to this issue.

7. This bug has been listed in the top 10 list. When can we expect it to be resolved? This is not some insignificant balance issue, this is a game breaking situation.

I will continue to check back on the boards, and see if any progress has been made on this issue. Because of the serious problem this presents in the game, I have begun to drop my CH skills. Hopefully this can be resolved so that all CH can enjoy the game in the fashion it was designed to be played in.

this should read "my #1 creature handler issue". This is not representative of all creature handlers.

For instance, my #1 issue is the 15 second call timer. Easily my #1 issue.

I know for myself and a few others, the number ONE issue is faction point distribution when fighting with pets. We have no natural defenses against AI NPC's such as rebel or imperials. This is largely because pets are the defense. We cannot solo them as a result. Since we NEED our pets out then why should we penalized for having them out?

That is the number one CH issue, imho. It affects the GCW. Without the GCW then what is there?

The fifteen second call time is more of a "balance" issue. And the faction point loss is a game mechanic. Neither of these things make it impossible to play the game. When a pet stops following you period, that is broken. The game is not meant to be played in that fashion.

If it is an intended game mechanic that pets should stop following you, or follow slowly, then please let us know.

I'm not making light of these other issues, but they don't make the game unplayable.

Running in circles to make the game function is broken.

well basically ill agree with ya, but i also think that the calling delay is a more important issue, it would solve the main problem of being a groupslower in missions, and it would give a workaround for this issue.

But being a new CH (since 2 weeks now i guess), i strangely never had that problem while only one pet is called, but nearly every time i try to run around with 2 pets.

At last SOEs new politicy to give another 10 free days to quitters shows how "well" its going with the game...

Your argument is based on semantics. I have work arounds for pets not following such as not pulling pets out until I get to where I want to be. This makes the bug playable for me.

I have no work around for farming faction at 1/5th the rate of other professions. I have not bothered since January. Now if you have not pulled out a pet since January with a "why bother" attitude then we can argue which is priority. Otherwise I believe I win hands down. Even Frenzied Graul hunters still hunt the FG in hopes. There is no hope for the CH in the GCW now except for taking 5 times longer to get what they want.

I agree with pluto. This is a major slap in the face IMHO because it is OBVIOUSLY put their on purpose because pets give you FP for corsecs, jabba, meatlumps, ect but not Imp. or Reb. bugs are programming mistakes this is something the devs needleslyput in place to further restrict our profession.

It is not a balance issue, it does absolutely nothing for pvp, pve or the galactic civil war. If oyu are pvping, already in combat the pet cannot be called. At any rate, I think it is a bit presumptious to think that all creature handlers feel the same as you about this, thus my remark about it being "your" #1 creature handler issue.

Others probably feel differently than both of us.

Also, I never have issues with pets following unless i am on a speeder. With no CALL timer (as opposed to a store timer) a cat running as fast as a speeder bike no longer becomes a problem as you can call it easily without annoyance.

Just saying, speak for yourself not everyone. We have an issues list up top for everyone. Definitely, your issues are as important as everyone else here, but you are speaking for yourself, which is great, but you can't speak for everyone, that is Vert's job.
