I was wondering what you guys think the best support professions are for mch. I am returning to the game after being away for quit a while. At the time that I left (the start of the holocron hunting craze) a combination of mch and commando would allow a player to live a relatively secluded life and still have fun (the main reason I liked the template). I want to include mch in it because I’m only 100,000 ch xp away from master, and I still can’t get over the fact that I go into battle with a pet rancor. A pet rancor! Can you believe it? My wife thinks I’m silly. =) As I have even less time to play now, and therefore will spend most of it soloing, I am curious as to what templates will allow me to do that. I’d like to be able to have plenty of fun on my own and be somewhat helpful those times I do spend a little time with a group. I realize that I won’t be uber, or be able to go everywhere and do everything. But when was that ever the point? I get to have a pet rancor! Sorry, I find it hard to control my glee sometimes. Also what pets should I be looking to use? What are some of the better combinations that other mch’s have found? When I left BE pets weren’t really any better than those caught in the wild. Is that still true? I thought that I read somewhere that they can truly bio-engineer a better creature now. If that’s so, what should I look for in a BE pet? I know that’s a lot of questions. Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks.

For those of you just dying to know why I chose to leave and am now back, I left because the game became too much about the grind and things in my life dictated that I spend a lot of time away from home and computers for a while. I didn’t, and still don’t, hove tons of time to grind my way through the professions to open my force sensitive slot. As a result I left, but I couldn’t very well stay away from my beloved pets. Plus, I’ve learned that my place in the game is probably like my golf game in many ways. I’ve got some talent but life gets in the way of finding out just how good I could be. So I’m content with enjoying the time I do get to play and the company of the friends I play with.

I too am returning to the game after an absence. I'm a Master Fencer/ MCH who can tank alongside my pets with COB, Vasarian Brandy(I still can't get over the new chef stuff) and some good stim b's. As for pets, I have BE pets that I use most of the time, one has 60% kinetic/45% energy with 11k HAM and the other has resists between 58% and 23% across the board with blast and cold vuln only, and 11k HAM. First one is for critters and the occasional NPC, and #2 is for NPC fighting. For wild pets I prefer my mereks, always have...cats can keep up with landspeeders although the new pet calling rules pretty much eliminate the need to drag a pet across the landscape. BE'd pet can have pretty much whatever stats you need, you can put a durni in a rancor skin, and vice versa. It now depends on the samples used by the BE, instead of the skin they put it in, although that means that it take a lot of time and usually deaths to get good DNA. Kinetic and energy are the biggest resists, and you can't get armor on anything below about CL 32 anymore. I tend to run with one hgher CL pet rather than 2 or 3 lower ones because of the armor restriction. Although, my pair of Swamp Stalkers get to come out and play quite a bit. I too missed my pets and friends.

It's only a grind if you treat it as such.

Ever since the dicovery of Holos and their use in treading the path of opening your FS, wayyyy too much emphasis has been placed on becoming a Jedi.

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't mind opening my FS, but I'm enjoying my current professions very much and have no intention of giving them up anytime soon. I wanted to be a CH from the beginning and sort of stumbled into Rifleman.

Everywhere I read on the forums and all I hear from people in the game is "I can't wait to finish this profession" or "My Holo says-'...........' What's the fastest way to grind through '........?'

As it is, there are 33 professions in the game. The current popular attitude in SWG suggests 28 possible chances in becoming a Jedi after the initial 4 and those who do not open it in their 5th or 6th usually flame and complain how much they hate SWG and how it is such a grind.

The upcoming revamp of the Jedi system will be quest-based, and I'm sure they will be both extremely long and challenging, At least they won't be boring and won't have to complain about 'grinding' through a profession I absolutely hate.

Hear, hear!

I followed the beta like a hawk and only ever wanted to be a Creature Handler. I stopped playing around mid-November and only began playing regularly again last month. So I missed the height of the holocron phase, though it was well on it's way in at the time. All my skill points have long been maxed out. Though I miss being the thrill of getting xp, I have no desire to drop anything. I like running around with pets, trying to pick up rare or interesting specimens, and generally just paying around with them. However, since I never made Master pistoleer I'm not a great fighter but that's okay with me.

For what it's worth, I still have my Xmas Holocron and really have no desire to use it.
