Men, women, bothans, wooks, whatever you may be....my name is Eloran Starlighter, and up until a few days ago...I was a MCH. Back when I first started the game, the man who helped me was a MCH. Unable to decide on a profession, I thought "Hey, he's cool...I'll do CH." After a few weeks fighting with my kaadu, Balthasar, I became enamored with the profession. I was a CH for about half a year. I hologrinded through it...until I finally did TKA for fun. I was addicted. I was uber. I could kill almost anything. I could tank an Elder. It was amazing.
Then, one day, a week and a half ago...my desire to grind came clawing at my doorstep. I had a choice. Lose TKM and with it my uberness...or lose CH, my true love of professions. I decided on CH. It wasn't doing anything for me other than boosting mission levels.
Over the course of about 5 days, I set up my datapad. I have enough pets of every level to get CH back quickly when I unlock.
My friends, my collegues, my fellow Creature Handlers...this is goodbye for now. Life without CH hurts at first...you want good missions, and you say "I'll just pull out my gurr-..*cries*" Or some guy need Empathy 3...you walk over...and you realize it's gone. It's all gone.
The emptiness I felt at first is gone. It's not so bad. I'll come back some day..
Good wishes..

i did the very same thing, and after mastering the first profession and then getting a silent holo, i was at a crossroad
Either i went back to the professions that i loved or proceed to grind, with over 25 professions still remaining to choose from
the choice was rather simple.
Now i'm back to MCH/TKM, the good thing from being away is that i now have a new found love for my pets.
I hope that you have better luck then i did, getting the FSCS isn't worth the time spent to master 25+ profession and being away from my pets for so long.

I too delayed as long as possible...but...I had a choice of keeping something I loved and didn't use...or something I loved a little less and did use. CH just had to go. I'll be back some day. Holos just went silent5 minutes ago.

Eloran, I hear you.
I'm about to get serious about the hologrind, but I've figured out a way to keep the CH I have, so I will. No lesser dewbacks for me.
True, I'll have to give up some other skills, to include just about all my medic stuff, but hey, them there are the breaks.

I tried holding out on the hologrind up until around December/January when SOE basically F'd the game up completely and also t9old us that the way to jedi would be changing. So now I'm trying to play catch-up, without dropping CH as it's much harder/slower xp to get back than other professions now. First Holo was Doctor, which went with CH pretty nicely. Second was TK, which I must say I really miss now as it was great fighting right up alongside of my pets and kicking ass. Smuggler was third holo, which the only thing I liked about it was that I could get 40k for shaman missions on Dant. My fourth holo said Image Design, which I plan to do as soon as I finish off Pistoleer as I didn't want to waste what pistol xp I had and having to come back and master it anyways.
After I finish Pistoleer and grind thru ID, I should be on silent holo and not sure where I'll go from there, but only thing for sure is I plan to keep MCH so will not be doing Bounty Hunter. Call me a "die hard" or call me stupid, but I have grown attached to my pets.

As for it being a bad horror movie...it's really not so bad. It just hurts when I open my datapad.

Why does "The Day the Holocrons Went Silent" sound like the title to a B-grade horror movie?
- "Soylent Green is People!"
- "The Holocrons just went silent!"
Eerie, isn't it?
