Yes.

Master CH will work with any profession you pair it with just fine. What it won't do is make you signigicantly better in combat. The only reason, in my opinion, to do CH is because you have fun doing it. Pets won't help you much in PvP, and while they can be helpful in PvE, you can become a stronger fighter with other combinations like rifle/doctor or fencer/pistoleer. And CH might even make you lazy in combat, because you might not develop the skill that a rifleman needs, for instance, to evade a creature that has closed to melee range, because you will rely heavily on your pets.

So if taming creature companions sounds like a good time and an enjoyable change of pace for you, then CH might be a good choice. If you're looking for an edge that you can't get somewhere else, this isn't the profession for you.

And if you choose CH, be prepared for one of the most tedious grinds in the game on the way to master. (In my opinion.)

As a master CH, I use my pets all the time in PvP, and it doesn't take very long to go through my entire datapad in an evening of PvP, because pets don't last too long against experienced players. They don't really make me a better PvPer (although my rancors are good at tanking ATSTs) but they do make the game more interesting and fun for me.

I fully agree with you ! I was trying Rifleman, Pistoleer and now BH, but i'll never give up my MCH. I really would miss fighting together with my lovely cat

MMORPGs are about immerson, not conquest. FPSs are about conquest, not immersion.
Powergamers want a FPS, but want an audience to admire them while they do it. That is why they flock to MMORPGs. l00k 4tz me, im d4 l33tz dud3z.

I agree 99%.

The 1% is the tedious part, first time I did it way back a year ago, it was tedious. Now, Geo cave, 1 buff setup, novice to master in 3 hours.

Personal best was, 60 minutes back when the geo cave spawned like crazy. Yah it sucks, but I'm not spending another 3 months doing it the 'right' way again.

Yep, every profession is tedious to grind if you do it the "slow way". Pretty much any profession can be mastered in a few days by people who know how to get it done.

I disagree in the statement that CH will not give you a significant edge in combat. In PvE they are absolutely brilliant, especially if you have a ranged prof. As an example; stick a pet on a lair of 8 plus poisoning voritors and kill em off withouta scratch, with only some basic skills you can hunt anything without getting aggro or even hit, even when you do its only the occassional single that peels off the pet and goes for you. For hunting anything that poisons/diseases a pet is very valuable asset.

Pets with ranged Poison and/or Disease come in handy in PvP

Yes, that's true, but I also think that being a CH tends to make you vulnerable to the instances when one or two of those voritors breaks off from your pet and aggros you. Being accustomed to letting you pet tank, it's easy to get clumsy when actually having to shake a crazed voritor off your behind. People who PvE without pets don't have to think twice about coping with a swarm of angry creatures. They do it all the time.

Certainly, there are exceptions to this generalization, but in my experience being a CH made me a less nimble soloer.

Try being a master bh useing the llc ontop of ch. I can tell you it did not make me clumsey. Since that llc does enough damage to sometimes pool off a mob, and you really have to use it at close range to special. Well to say the least if you do everything wrong you learn to be damn nimble. One thing that this retaught me is the value of good stim bs and the burst run key. Oh no arachne queen run.

Seriously they are modest in pvp and great in pve. If the devs promise of key patches comes into play. Then maybe they will become even more important for pve and have more potential in pvp.

Now if only they would fix my woolamanders strong poison and strong disease. Then it will truely be fun for pvp. With his resists and his ham. I figure if those attacks would just stick. Then I am sure he can get a couple licks in before he goes down.
