/tellp ftarget;/* or whatever you use for follow target */
/tellp sp1;/* or whatever you use for the special "trigger" */

That's about it. ftarget keeps them right on the heels of the mob, and the special attack only seems to work when used as the initiating attack. This macro *does* work though, and until they fix the implimentation of the specials trigger, it's the best you're gonna get.

I would put in a /pause command before the special command, this gives your pet time to get in close enough. Depends how close you are, how fast your pet is etc etc. You'll need to experiment.

Thats why you use the follow target command though. Since you would have the mob targeted, your pet would follow them (ie stay right there on top of it). No need for a pause unless you have a really bad connection maybe and experience a lot of lag.

I put mine in a loop and it seems to make my pet attack the monster from where it was even though it was 60m away and wasnt ranged

Yes, but if your 50m away from the target and you tell your pet to follow target and immediately carry out the special, it won't if the target is not in its special attack range. That's why you need to give the pet time to get in range.

Everything I've read seems to indicate that the specials won't be used if the pet is already in combat so I've been using the follow+special macro. Occasionally it doesn't seem to stick so I may try putting a pause in there as well.
