I've been MCH for a long time. Only recently have I started playing PVP, but in my experiences so far I can give you some good advice.
All the TKM has to do is drop you with KD and your duel is over. Then they KD your pet(s) and it's over for them as well. If you'rea Pistoleer like me the first thing you do is get out of lunge range, either that or use Pistol Whip (/pistolmeleedefense1) immediately. If your KD doesn't work then run out of range fast. If it does work then lay some bleed on the TKM and blast him with fan shot as you get out of range. Keep a decent distance and you should be able to win, because all the while your pet is gnawing at his heels. If he stops to kill the pet he dies because you are firing on him from a safe distance with your highest special(s). If he keeps chasing you he gets damage from you and the pet anyway. All you have to do is stay out of range long enough to drop his health to incap. If he's buffed then you better be buffed too, or you're wasting your time. Before I learned how to use my pets and my profession (Pistoleer), I was very frustrated myself. Sure, I still die if I make a mistake and stay in lunge range, but I've been able to hold off a TKMand incap him with the help of my pets. It IS possible.
Now lets take into consideration other professions with CH. Say you switch to TK and master that. Your pets will still die. Sure, TKM does more damage and you may be able to take out one or two more people in a fight, but you're still going to die in PVP quite frequently. TKM's aren't invulnerable. I have friends that die all the time. Commando has its own flaws too... 16m is the max distance of accuracy for a flamethrower and that's greatly reduced when your target is moving. I've died many times due to flame, but I've also killed quite a few flamers. Again, distance is your friend. Pets on a Commando are lethal and they die fairly easy as long as you're blasting them.
CH's do have their place in PVP, but in my opinion it's more of a support role. I don't use my pets alone in PVP usually because they will die and lose vitality needlessly. When I am in a group I use my pets all the time. I've found I can play a very good support role with my pets and my Pistoleer. I get invited to groups all the time because I do make a difference.
If I wanted an uber template like everyone else I'd drop MCH and invest in what I need. I'd rather do something challenging, like make myself a reputation as someone to be feared in PVP. Imagine that... an MCH/Pistoleer winning in PVP and making people take notice. I've won many times, I've died many times. You have to accept as an MCH that your pets will die. This pushes you to really pick and choose your pets for different PVP situations and it also forces you to hone tactics that will keep you and your pets alive during a battle. Your pets WILL lose vitality. It's inevitable.I have PVP pets and I have regular pets. I do have bonds with my pets, but me and my pets accept that we have to make sacrifices for the Rebellion and do our duty in PVP. My pets and I know what we're getting into and we accept that risk. Most pets don't start losing stats until they reach 70/100 vitality. This is when I make the decision to retire them and keep them(vitality pack brings them back up to par98/98 and full stats) or destroy them and get new ones to replace them. I have a nice collection of BE pets to fall back on for PVP.
At first I was discouraged like you, but the more I play the more I find that the real reasons an MCH loses in battle have nothing to do with skill most of the time, but who gets the right special off first. A lot of it is defense stacking as well, which is going to be reduced (to 125), but still be in place. And that's only for certain stats, not all of them---so keep that in mind. The next publish will help, but I doubt it will be the boon we're looking for.
Get yourself a Genosian Sonic Blaster (if Pistoleer) or similar stun damage gun. It will save your hide in PVP because it bypasses most armor (which is based on kinetic) and slams the person with damage. Although these guns are lower damage than most other pistols you'll find they just eat a target up. These things are just plain awesome. Stun damage rocks.
I'm determined to make my own way in PVP using Master Pistoleer and MCH. I may not be ever considered uber by most, but I'll gain respect for making my weaker template work, and it's more challenging than going the easy route and choosing a template that gives me everything to win easily.
