Thread: Couple questions for you other MCHs out there
I don't think you are completely gimping yourself for pve or even some pvp, but you are going to be slightly behind the power curve. BE pets can have many advantages over tamed, namely hps, armor, and damage. Tamed pets can have innate abilities upon tame that you just won't have the points for with a BE pet. So, if you are looking at a tamed pet with innate marring storm, vigorous health, or thick skin then they are basically starting *even* with a BE pet. If you compair a tamed pet with some other innate ability, they are behind the power curve compaired to BE. The only time I would use a tamed pet with another innate ability is if it were an ability I didn't want to put on my main pet. The reason I say this is because essentially a BE pet comes with the equivalent of vig health 3 and marring storm 1. So even though BE pets get 4 less ability slots than tamed (at CL70), they have already made that up from the start. Note also that often a good BE pet will have slightly better aggression than a tamed, you may not need to use aggression 3 for a tank pet. Add also that even though I say a BE pet comes with essentially innate vig health 3 and marring storm 1, you can still train these abilities for even more hps and damage. Bottom line is that BE pets when properly made and trained for a specific task will be better than a tamed of equal level except for special cases like the tames that have unlisted abilities like aoe, dizzy, blind, etc.
Just to clairify some too, I currently have 2 MCH's on different servers and have ground CH many times over my career. I do not endorse the idea that BE pets should almost always be better than tames as it, IMO, has diluted the CH profession.
The max damage on a wild pet is around 404 I believe.
The max damage on a BE pet is 499. But the most important fact is that BE pets attack at TWICE the speed of a tamed pet.
No matter what extra specials you've got on a tamed pet, its just not going to compete with a quality BE pet.
It the equivilant of a featherweight V/S a heavyweight.

A tamed pet will NEVER beat a halfway decent BE pet of the same level.

I thought that the 2x speed was supposed to be a bug that was getting fixed?
imo wild pets make better tanks while BE pets make better damage dealers (from double attack speed). i fully trained my shear mite soldier - it came with thick skin 3 (armour 8000 = 56% damage reduction). i added vigorous health 3, aggression 3, lightning reflexes 3, guarded stance 2 and intimidate attack 1. thats 15 abilities - a similar BE pet at CL70 gets 9 ability slots. the BE pets advantge of better damage doesnt count for a tank as i m the damage dealer here. only the better health will be a tank-advantage, but with less trainable abilities the final lack of defenses or armour will eat thru this fast. another advantage is that my shear mite soldier comes with a ranged attack (i think not available for BE pets atm). it can get the aggro from 35m out and dont loose it anymore (aggression 3).
if u let them attack each other the BE pet will have the damage advantage and will probably win. but if u use them against high level mobs a specially trained natural tank pet (like above) will stay longer and will give u more time to kill the target. when i send my soldier against 2 or 3 CL81+ he has no prob holding the agro and tanking all of them while i kill them easily.
another prob i found in BE pets is, that most BEs concentrate on high health and high damage, leaving the regen rate pretty low (seldom over 700). after a heavy beating my wild pets recover pretty fast, so i can use them without too much rest. thats the reason i dodnt add beastly constitution to my shear mit soldier, as the regen rate is pretty good as it is (no numbers on natural pest available). my BE pets (with around 700 health regen) need a lot longer to be ready for the next fight.
