Thread: Question about pet abilities
1) If you fight at all with a pet and trade it to another CH, that other CH won't be able to learn the ability from the pet. The check is probable the training xp, if you do anything to give the pet training xp, it's "locked in" to you and only you to learn any ability from it. The second CH can still level the pet, train it new abilities, etc. He just won't be able to gain the pet's ability from that specific creature.
2) You can trade a pet to any player who can call that pet. So you can't trade a pet with CL > 10 to a non-CH, and you can't trade a CL 70 pet to a non-Master CH. Other than that restriction, whether or not you've taught the pet any abilities has no effect on the trade. Some CHs earn a little money on the side by training pets (both non-CH and CH) with abilities and giving the pet back to the original owner.
3) Pets CL 10 (and lower) do gain training points and ability slots, and can be taught specials by a CH. Lower level creatures are more limited in the number of slots they get, and get fewer training points per level, so it may take more levels to get enough points for higher-level abilities. But within their limitations, they are just like any other creature. There was a "Darth Nuna" post a while back, with some crazy CH's plan for a tiny CL 1 nuna with as many state attacks as possible.
4) There is definitely a limit on the number of abilities you can teach a given pet. Pets have a limited pool of ability slots (determined by the creature's CL), similar to player's limited pool of skill points.I doubt there would be any limitation on the number of creature abilities a CH can know. I'd expect that at least some CHs have gotten all the currently available abilities. The creature pin hasn't been found yet, and some L3 versions haven't been found (or were only recently discovered on Mustafar like Fleet Footed L3).
