Thread: An Observation: My two cents

Background

I saw the free two week trial and figured I would give Star Wars: Galaxies a try. I made a trandoshian and started on my way to becoming a creature handler. I joined BEAST on Radiant and made some great friends. I printed out every tamable creature from SWG creatures.com having an adamant zeal for the profession. I tamed mounts for people charging 5k each and did it because I liked getting people pets. I mastered creature handler and teras kasi, then got tracking rank 3 in ranger using all 250 points.

Today

There are a couple glaring issues with this game. I have been in attendance at 6 of the 8 beast meetings, having missed the first one and last one. The beast petition sums up the main issues very clearly but I'll add my two cents.

1. All creatures under CL 70 tamable.

Creature diversity is a must right now there are 13 creatures above level 50:

Name Level Armor Has Babies Special Attack1 Special Attack2

arachne webmaster50Light Yes Stunning Strike Strong Poison

arachne widow 58 Light Yes Stunning Strike Strong Poison

blurrg 50 LightYes Stunning StrikeBlinding Strike

bull rancor 65Light Yes Plague Strike Dizzy Strike

great plains stalker 51 LightYes Blinding StrikeStunning Strike

gurreck 50 LightYes Crippling Strike Intimidation

malignant squill 50 Light Yes Strong Disease Stunning Strike

mantigrue screecher55 Light Yes ? Plague Strike

merek deaths head56 Light Yes Strong Poison Strong Disease

rancor 50 Light YesStunning Strike Intimidation

rhoa kwi pack leader50 Light Yes Crippling Strike Dizzy Strike

wild dune boar

Taken right from SWGcreatures.com

There needs to be more diversity in creatures. The bull rancor is the only master level creature and it is only slighly better than a normal rancor. The frenzied graul is broken. This list speaks for itself. I know many more points could be made on rarity and creatures as a whole. I think this has an obvious solution of more creatures introduced and made tamable.

2. Combat Rebalance.

With doctor buffs, entertainer buffs, foodand 80% kinetic armour as the mainstay for players who are in effect gods the creatures and monsters in SW:G are weak.

You can attack an enraged bull rancor lair orthree have an ancient bull rancor walk over and get in on the fight and with a master combat profession laugh at the situation as if you were killing minor worts.

Creatures need to be brought back up to a respectable level of difficulty (the obvious solution) or players brought down to where creatures are dangerous again. Also some of the commands are useless, embolden pets, enrage pets, some pet abilities do not work ie, knockdown.

This is a core game balance issue here. Seriously what are they smoking?

3. Stables.

We all would like more storage for pets, a redeed for pets, I think this speaks for itself and other posts have covered this in detail.

The Sad Part

This game is star wars and after a year they are adding a space expansion (that should have been included at release!)when they could add an entire expansion just to fix bugs!

They can't even fix what they have but are putting out an expansion?

There are some really great players, I have had the pleasure of meeting and guilding with some. The only reason people stay with this game is that they love it, the people they have become friends with, and the time they have dedicated to it.

Maybe it's just me butI don't like the way things are run. These forums are a testament to the interaction of the creature handler community. If only they could get a responce to some of their concerns.

Good post

You are right on about more of a variety needed for creatures and this could be easily resolved by making all pets underl lvl 70 tamable. I dont think creatures will ever be back to where they were before all the nerfs but would like to see medium armor come back for some of the ultra rare pets. Stables is also a structure we need badly to store and sell pets

i said it before and i'll say it again.

i'd be happy just for gronda juggernauts to be tamable.

but everything <= 70 tamable would be great.

I can just see a "Wait for the Combat Revamp" and "Wait for the Smuggler Revamp" quote all rolled into one.
"Wait for the Smuggbat Revamp"
Smuggbat, I like that

I agree with most of your post.

I would love to have something like the #3 idea. A stable, or redeeding would be great.

if you want your pets back to pre-nerf status, have a doc buff them for you.

and you say you're not qualified to test the mythical combat rebalance...good post my friend! Unfortunately the mythical combat rebalance is supposed to bring players down to our pets' level, and I think there's gonna be so much screaming that it won't last long...people have gotten spoiled...as for still playing, who would take care of my babies? Can't just leave them...
