I just got novice Creature handler, and I have a few pets. (nightspider, level 13 dewback)
And when i go to train them to attack, I get a ? mark... can anyone tell mehow to train them?
When the question mark comes up, you speak whatever word you want to have activate the pet command. You can either say the word outloud in spatial chat, or by using /tellpet.
If a second question mark comes up, then it didn't understand and you will have to try again. Just repeat the process until an exclamation point appears over the creature and you get text telling you that the creature learned the command. You will get experience at this point as well, if it is the first time the pet has been trained in that ability.

That is all correct. The only thing I'd add is that you can fail up to 3 times. The teach will always work on the 4'th try.
Woot 200 posts.

Please please please learn this early, do NOT use /say.
There is nothing more agonizing listening to:
IgnerentCH says a
IgnerentCH says a
IgnerentCH says a
IgnerentCH says a
IgnerentCH says f
IgnerentCH says f
IgnerentCH says f
And so on, please keep the already heavy spam to a minimum and use /tellpet for all our sakes.
Seemingly magical commands to your pet looks very professional, I only use /say KILL! for the benefit of my group so they know when its on.

ROFLMAO!!!
examples:
macro name: store
picture : icon with sleep connotation
macro text: /tellpet store
macro name: group
picture: ewok peeking out of a bush
macro text: /tellpet group
The macros work great. After I teach the pet all the commands, I reteach it some short commands with it's name so that it can learn that. Of course, then I reteach the commands without it's name.

2 things. First ignorant is spelled ignorant. Second you must have been one of the lucky CH that were not plagued by the /tellpet bugs.
I like /tellpet butit isn't working for a lot of my commands, so I don't use it.
That, and I have a tough time with the whole tellpet Nazis. I mean, I go near a starport and people have 4 paragraph messages going, for hours at a time, yet I'm considered a spammer cause I type "f" and run off into the distance? Pfft, I don't think so.
I do, however, go to a private area to teach pets. But I have no qualms about issuing commands in front of people via /say.

Training doesn't always work on the 4th try, it took me at least 6 for one of the commands on one of my pets recently.
I say make your commands whatever you want. If someone has an issue with it than they have some serious problems they need to work on.
Rarwarg (Ahazi)
agreed, some pet are much dumber than others..rancors for example take many tries, a pre curb bull rancor took me as many as 10 tries /command
