Thread: Developers playing a joke on CHs with new BE Pets?
If you read my post, I am doing that.
You miss the whole point... Because of the 'GIANT' issue of some skins at high CLs, it places realistic limits on the skins you wish to use in combat and group situations.
How many group membershave complained about the CH using large pets in combat over the years.
So you expect me to give up my Razor Cats, Gurrecks and many other skins to keep it's skin to a respectable size because a Developer did not even listen to what we really wanted.
Sorry, but it seems sometimes the Developers live in their own world and do not even research intended changes to see what the players are asking for, instead coming up with what they think is some wonderful but ill-concived idea taking away from what could be a better profession!!
What makes it worse is that the new pets are so much better in combat and can actually hold aggro. I was so excited about the improvements only to find out that some Developer had go mad on the 'sizing' issue.

Once there is a bit more feedback from other CHs, we can see if it is a potential issue.
Having played SWG since the start, hadtwo accounts, worked to MCH three times (and other professions) plus played regular onsix servers, I have seen and heard how some players react to oversized pets. That is where I know it can be an issue.
You must have a very understanding grp of people you play with as a search of the forums will bring up the issue of people getting upset with oversized pets in combat.

I purchased a level 10 Razor Cat for one of my guildies last night - I called it out to train it......looked around......checked my datapad to make sure I'd called it......looked around again....
Then I found it - under my foot!! It was tiny! Seriously, the size of a mouse.
I called out my Razor Cat in panic, thinking it may now only come up to my ankles, but it was normal size.
It was amusing though when I gave the pet to the rather large wookiee guildmember...he took one look and said - "Will it grow?"
if the devs were consequent the mission creatures should have the same size rule applied (imagine a CL80 lesser plain bol 8x the usual size

If anyone has obtained any of the new BE pets after the CU and Patch 17 you may have noticed the size issue. Being a MCH, I have gone for Lvl 70 clones only to find out they grow up to be GIANTS!!! I mean HUGE!!.
For example my Razor Cat matches a Large Banta in size and my Narglatch towers over me. My Veernok draws so many comments from people because it is so tall.
If the direction of the game is to make it more group orientated then what were the developers thinking?
I am reluctant to bring these pets out while hunting with groups because they obstructed the view of many of my group members. Even hunting alone and using the command 'wedge formation' usually gets them so close to me it is a pain.
Yes, many of the BEs and CHs wanted to be able to vary the size of a clone but what happened was a total mis-read of people's wishes in these forums.
The only good point is to have a GIANT Lvl 70 Rancor ( Suspect the limit was drawn for pets like that) or similar for cool value, but as I spend most of my time in combat I need a pet that is practical in size. I have now asked my BE to make a Lvl 70 Kima, not because I like them, I actually hate its looks. But in the hope that I get aadult pet that does not cause problems because of it's size.
Is this a bug or was it intended by the developers. If it was intended it was in poor taste and totally against what we wanted.
I totally agree. It is also nice to be able to have a small pet sneak across the ground to your target.

what type of pet can BEs make the tiniest of all?
or can every pet be made as tiny or as large as the BE wants ?
Or aint it possible for BEs to adjust the bigness of the creature (so that the bigness of the creature depends on the type of creater) ?
The BE can choose a skin (animal type), which gives the base size, but now with the size/growth based on the CL. So the lower the CL smaller the pet and the higher the Cl larger the pet. So in theory a CL 70 pet is the largest the pet will ever be and CL 1-5 is the smallest the pet will be.
I wish we could control the size... beyond the CL , but alas we can't.
I have a cool CL 64 Squall... which at the shoulder comes to my head.... I am a fairly tall Twi'lek so I am not short. She looks like a large Levisquall from Rori.
The smallest skins are Jax, kima, langlatch (aggressive), gnort, durni and squall (see above the reults of a high CL though).Other possible ideas are the low to ground creatures like the Bobcat, vesp, dune lizard or one of the spider versions... since they seem to get wider then taller.
Vaterg,
In reply I was not getting back at the guy.
If you fully read his post you would have realized that for one he had not fully read my posts and two, his expereince about players not complaining about oversized pets is extremely unique. As followup replies indicate there are some concerns over this sizing issue which confirms my original post.
