I thought that reffered to the new abilities only. And the rate its mind dropped didnt seem quite right, it barely used any action but its mind was dropping extremely fast.
You may want to mention the BE armor problem in the BE forum.
Profession: Creature Handler
- All triggered Pet Abilities will now have Action & Mind costs for the pet.
- Ranged pet actions will now have the same Action / Mind costs as melee pet actions.
The above is from the Pub22 patch notes. The first line seems to lead you to believe this will only be for triggered attacks. However after reading the second line it could be taken to mean that ALL pet attacks have a mind/action cost now. If that is so then it kinda sucks.

The base attack is just the same as a base attack for any player profession, uses very little ham but regenerates rapidily. I've not seen it on my pets as I've not been grouped with them. But I do see it when fighting other creatures. The most noticeable ham useage is when a creature does a KD recovery. You will see the action bar drop 25%. And this was way before this change. It's always been there, the QA and dev team just tweaked it.
