Thread: 2 new possible bugs that need some looking into.

A friend of mine told me in game today that when he used his Kimo against NPCs he noticed that the pets armor effectiveness actually dropped when being hit with a ranged attack. According to him this only applies to BE pets used against NPCs and creatures do not cause this to happen. I did some limited testing and havent been able to confirm this one way or the other, but I thought I'd go ahead and bring it up just in case this is actually happening.


And during my limited testing I grouped my pet and sent it to attack some mission NPCs and noticed something that disturbed me. Every time the pet hit its mind wold drop! One level 81 NPC and its mind was almost 3/4 gone, this pet is a BioEngineered pet soit couldnt beawild special activating and ithas 0 special abilities trained so I know its not something like staggering attack draining it.

i noticed the mind drop some time ago when i visited the geo caves with my BE Gurreck. after every fight its mind was down (i finally could use the tricks again to fill its mind up - just one trick 1 and one trick 2 brought its mind back to full).

I thought that reffered to the new abilities only. And the rate its mind dropped didnt seem quite right, it barely used any action but its mind was dropping extremely fast.

Mind and action both drop on both your pets and wild creatures, if you watch the creatures you're fighting you will notice a very tiny drop in action and a slightly more significant one in the mind. This is not a bug as people have mentioned before.

You may want to mention the BE armor problem in the BE forum.

Profession: Creature Handler



  • All triggered Pet Abilities will now have Action & Mind costs for the pet.
  • Ranged pet actions will now have the same Action / Mind costs as melee pet actions.


The above is from the Pub22 patch notes. The first line seems to lead you to believe this will only be for triggered attacks. However after reading the second line it could be taken to mean that ALL pet attacks have a mind/action cost now. If that is so then it kinda sucks.

The base attack is just the same as a base attack for any player profession, uses very little ham but regenerates rapidily. I've not seen it on my pets as I've not been grouped with them. But I do see it when fighting other creatures. The most noticeable ham useage is when a creature does a KD recovery. You will see the action bar drop 25%. And this was way before this change. It's always been there, the QA and dev team just tweaked it.
