Ok, I just picked up Novice CH because I had the xp to do it. Now, how do I get the Creature Hnadling xp? I found a baby grubar (sp) and did not see any "tame" in the radial menu. Can someone give me some details on what I am to do to get the CH XP?

Congrats on getting novice! Now, what I would do is tame a low-level pet. (my first pet was a swamp gurrcat, and I still have him) There are two ways to get CH xp.

1. Taming pets and teaching them commands.

2. Having your pet(s) attack things.

I tried to tame even the low little creatures outside of Bestine and Coronet, but I still don't have a "tame" option an the radial to do so. Any more suggestions?

You can make a hot button for tame by using 'ctrl a' to bring up the commands buttons, then look under 'other' and drag the tame button onto one of the F1-F12 tabs at the top to make a hot button.

And it should be pointed out that you can only tame creatures that have 'baby' in their name....so no yard trash (even minor worts)...

Sounds to me you're trying to tame adults and not babies! We can only tame babies, not fully grown creatures. Look for babies, go up to the baby and select 'tame' from the radial. The creature's name will turn white (this is to prevent people shooting it, because griefers would do such a thing). It may take a few attempts to get it tamed, but once you do green lettering will pop up saying you've tamed it.

You will be only able to tame creatures at your level, which I think is level 12. So go on a hunt and look for Cupas, a great starting pet. Look around for a baby and try and tame it. Might be an idea, if you can afford it, to buy some taming clothes too.

I do know that you can only train babies. I forget the name of the creature, but it's some small frog looking thing outside Coronet that I couldn't train.

I will try the hot key for Tame. I think that will help. And I did get a +15 creature handling shirt.

Thanks everyone for the help. I'll try the hot key, and find a cupa baby.

Good luck with that. By the way, what server are you on? If you're on Bria I can help you make that Cupa a mount when it reaches a sufficient level (or give you a freebie mount to be getting on with).

normally its the first thing to get suggested in a novice CH post and i'm very surprised that it is'nt so here goes.

check out swgcreatures.com its a great resource for pets.unless your a master scout that can check the level of potential pets i would suggest you to that site and make yourself a list of all pets that you can tame at your current level.(at novice its cl12)then just go tame and train mad.

tame something(even if its a horned rasp(cl7) train it and then release it.once you get your self a decent pet like a cupa or gurrcat head out to the geo caves on yavin.make sure there is a good group in the first part of the cave where the crazed geo's spawn then set your pet to attack.as long as your pet get in 1 hit without getting killed you'll still get the full xp and you get some really good xp from those caves.

while leveling some people will tell you the best line to go for first is the last one creature management. but I went with the first line first(to be able to tame vicious creatures) got 2 blocks there and then worked on getting management 3(will allow you to have 2 pets out at the same time.this helps cause you wont have to store your pet to tame another.

use mask scent.it helps a load especialy when you have that first line and are going after some vicious creatures.

/follow and /tame are alsovery useful. with /follow you will in most cases always be close enough, and stay close enough, to tame your pet.
