I just bought a level 16 Cu Pa. I had it tamed and trained by a CH. He was able to call it and train it with no problems. When he gave it back I went to call it but it says that I have no way of controling this level pet. Since the Cu Pa is only a "baby" if you will, he is currently level 1(16). Should I be able to call him until his level is past level 10 or do I have to be a level 16 CH to call it. I tried contacting customer service live chat and the CSR said that "he really coudln't tell me" which is typical of SOE's CS base.

as a non ch you should be able to call creatures which haven't passed the magical level 10 border, so that sorta sounds like a bug.

I believe it actually goes off the final CL of the creature. At the level I am in CH, I can control up to CL27. Which means I can't tame babies that will grow up to be CL28. Otherwise, every CH would have a baby rancor until they couldn't control it anymore, then get another.

I believe you are correct. If the final pet level for that Cu pa is 16, a non-CH will not be able to control it.

you are talking about the taming process, the question wasn't about taming tho, it was only about controlling an already tamed and trained pet that is at level 1, therefore it SHOULD be controlable by a non-ch.

No they are correct. I just bought a level 11 pet and I still can't control it. So either you have to go by the max level of the pet, or I just have really bad luck when it comes to buying bugged pets lol

hum, if that's the way it is now, it has to be new. i gave quite a lot pets away already that were max level 20-40 to novice chs and non-chs who were able to pull out the pet as a baby.

To my knowledge it's always been that way. Final level determines if a CH or non-CH can control the pet. Also, if a pet is aggressive, a non-CH cannot control it, no matter what level.
Thats how it is. non-CH can only call and control non-aggressive lvl 10 or lower pets.

In regards to what was being discussed I offer the following. This evening I had an individual give me his bio engineered kaadu. It was level 1, would grow to a max level of 11. I told my customer this (he wanted me to train it) and he wanted me to train it anyways. I did, and was able to transfer it back to him. So that would lead someone to believe that its based on the current pet level.
