Anybody have any ideas why when I first tame a new pet with an inate ability, sometimes I can train that pet his special attack and sometimes I can't. I was under the impression all inate abilities, if the creature indeed has one, can be taught to him by his master right away.
I am an MCH by the way. Any help would be appreciated!

Yeah, some pet abilities are always on such as agression, fleet foot, precision strike, etc..
These abilities do not need to be triggered by a command like knockdown, eye gouge, etc.

umm, well "innate" means "Possessed at birth; inborn" so i can't see why you would even want to train them an ability that they already have?
as far as training their special ability to another pet, you have to fight with your new pet for a random amount of time/xp before you will learn that ability from the pet. Once you do you will know it forever and can train it to any other pet that has enough training points.

He's talking about the training menu where the triggered commands are trained to a command.
