I found that I had some time to play SWG last night. I am usually a weekend (Friday and Saturday) player because of work and family. So I log in and decide that I am going to confirm a rumor that I had heard. So, I march of to Mos Espa and get a mission for Womp Rats. I proceed over to the nest and find a baby Womp Rat (I am a 2-2-2-2 CH, so my max level is 28 I believe)... I quickly befriend the cute little critter (i.e. dirty mangy rat) and proceed to tear a gaping hole in the newbie monsters around Mos Espa... Lo and behold, I am rolling in the exp... I am usually a solo player, so when I am on Dantoine, I can hunt Huurton Huntresses and get about 200xp each... but then I have to recover (myself and my pets). I usually reduce a nest (baring unforseen disasters like my GSP heading for the horizon, but wait that is another grief in about 30 minutes.... So we are probably talking about 1200 points (give or take)... per 30 minutes.... ARGH!!!
But here, on Mos Espa, with a BABY Womp Rat... I picked up the same 1200 points in less than 5 minutes! With no harm to myself and with only the use of Stimpak A's for the Baby rat...
Part of me said, this is wrong, no self respecting CH can do this, but the other half of says why should I spend hours for the same return....

hehe, welcome to what I did 6 months ago as a novice. Killing yard trash was the most effective way to level if you couldn't solo rancors. Unfortuantly you wont get the benefit of two pets twice the xp like I did. Good luck to you. Those last boxes in the trees are monsters, it took me forever even with twice the xp.

XP has always been greater when you use a less than grown pet fighting, as it is based on the current level of that pet, not the adult level. As well, if you use a GSP against a humbaba, your not gonna get as much xp, as say using a gnort or spat. The MAIN thing to remember when gaining CH XP is this. Your pet only needs to hit its target once to gain full xp. So if you tank for your pet, then let it get a few punches in, your gold in the xp department.
