Does anyone know if you drop CH if you retain your knowledge of pet abilites. Not that you could train anything, but if you drop Ch to return again would you have to grind through all those specials again?

I know several people have asked but to my knowledge no one has tried. It is too much work to regain the skills and too much risk that the abilities are lost.

My suspiscion is that since the abilities are not skill based example being that they are not based on skill boxes and that a novice ch can use them. That they are probabally in no way linked to the ch profession anyway. Just extraneous data like your badges. Its just a self contained file that runs a character check to make sure you have the correct pre requisite to use it.

As the previous poster said nobody knows basically because once you got 30 or 40 its a insane gamble and your pot committed once you roll the die. Either they save or your going to be saying goodbye to ch forever. If you want proof that its probabally not the case think about this non chs can use these abilities so if there is no check against useing them then why would there be a check for actually keeping them.

My advice is contact a csr in game. Ask him or her if they will verify your ability set see if they have the option to grant abilities and run a test. A far better option though would be to find a rangerand ask them to help you conduct the test. Hey thats an idea getting a ranger to run the test they have the xp to burn.

Well, I have 2 MCH's on 2 different servers. The MCH that I am currently playing I want to drop, but want to retain the ability to return later. As we all know, returning is not an option if you have to grind through all that crap again. I might just take the MCH that I no longer play, respec him and see what happens as I doubt I would get a reliable response from a CSR anyhow.

if worse comes to worse go to test center and grind out to novice ch (unless a frog is available ) learn 5 commands and drop it for a day then go back and relearn it, This way you wont harm your main toons template and can find out for sure with less risk

I'm probably going to respec my old MCH to see. Unfortunately I am in SE Texas and we are preparing for the hurricane right now (i am taking a break atm) and won't be back online for a short bit. Hopefully I can get back online to test this out sometime next week.

No rush.

I likely won't have internet access for a while for the same reason. Stay safe.

Okay, so tonight I took my alt and used his token respec. I dropped all of my CH in exchange for carbineer. Attempted the /train command and got "you do not have sufficient skills" message. For a second I was concerned. I then trained in novice CH and did /train and all my previously learned pet abilities were back!

So I am starting another thread to announce this find...
