Ok, my template is MCH/MFencer/0040 medic and some other FS skills that have nothing to do with combat. What I've noticed is although I'm level 80 my pets while grouped function at their absolute minimum value of damage before armor mitigation and foods. Ungrouped they do exactly the same amount of damage which is always 101 on my CL 68 Boar Wolf or 30 on my pair of gufs, same 30 on my trio. I can understand some penalty in the to hit vs melee defense but a reduction of 100% seems rather excessive. The pet can be level 2 or level 70 and it will always function at its minimum value in PvP. Is this intended considering pets and other group members aren't supposed to be incurring a level penalty while grouped?
I guess I just don't understand how this whole grouped you don't get a penalty thing, yet you're getting a massive penalty at the same time. Any enlightenment in this area would be greatly appreciated, heck a red name explaination would be great but anyone that understands how this works would help resolve my frustration in PvP because currently pets are like Combat Medics but less effective and they don't add any defense or speakable offense to my skill set. Thanks for helping me to understand this situation.

So I'm going to assume nobody has any idea how this is supposed to work, oh well yet another mystery in our grand universe.

Base Damage = [(Max+Min)/ 2] + [(Acc-TD)*(Max-Min)*.00066255]
Min <= Base Damage <= Max
Standard Damage = Base Damage * SAM * 0.7 * [1-(0.011 * AR - 0.0000005 * AR^2)*0.01]
The formula we're talking about^^ Thank you very much for pointing me to that post, very informative.
That leaves me asking, How doI get a pet or multiple pets with to hit 300+ so that it can do decent damage in PvP? Since that is impossible that makes CH useless in PVP and severely hinders your other combat profession due to not having the defense mods...seems like something needs to be re evaluated for playability of CH in PVP situations.
This also explains how my crafter alt gets hit for 5000+ damage frequently in PvE, I saw an 8000 damage number the other day too which is overkill. It's a good thing she looks good because she's always on her back.

A great question.
have you seen this post?

What I've gathered is that for purposes of pvp the petsdamageis based on the + the ("to hit"- Target defenses)+ any extra accuracy state (Cricital strike is it?). So some have argued that the "to hit" stat is the single most important stat in choosing a pvp pet. I don't know if the pet inherits your accuracy modifiers.
So even a level 70 pet will miss frequently in pvp and when it hits will do mostly min damage if it's accuracy is far below the target defense.
If I remember correctly there was a pet food that helped pet accuracy (sweesonberry?). However, it's broken.
So what would be helpful would be for somebody to test how the to hit formula actually works. Also, it would helpful to get some pvp result from using critical strike to see if that helps.
Feel free do this over if anybody has better information.
