Hello fellow handlers,
I just have to share this story with you, even if it is a sad one (or funny, depends on how you look at it).
Like a true creature handler will do at some point in his career, you start looking for the fabled Great Plains Stalker on Corellia. If only because it is "still" regarded as a trophy. Still, because claims are made that it is not so rare anymore as it used to be, but that does not deter me. I love cats and this is the last one I have never tamed before and I really wantit badly.
I have looked for quite some time already but recently I've gathered some tips from my fellow handlers (you) which pointed me in the right direction. A short time ago now I ran into a spawn SE of the Nyax POI, 1.9k SE of it (2651 -1749). This surprised me because on Bria there is a player city nearby. I killed 4 adults but alas no babies.
Today I ran into another spawn, E of the POI, 1.6k away from it to be exact (3002 -185). That was the moment I had to learn a valuable lesson. I often travel with Ayela my wild gurreck at my side. It's a reliable and strong pet and I really like her (who says I can't determine if it's a he or she, that's up to the owner
). When we ran into the spawn I ordered her to attack the ferocious cat and I killed it from a distance. I did this 2 times and here it comes... the third spawn was a baby. What I did not know is that even Plains Stalker babies are very aggressive and it attacked on sight. Of course my faithful gurreck couldn't just stand by and let this happen. She attacked the baby and no matter what I tried there was no seperating them......, the baby died!
Here you can see a picture of it, if you can really stand it: http://img50.exs.cx/img50/265/screenshot01315vn.jpg
The 4th and last one was an adult again. Yes, I was sad for a while but everyday I learn more about this creature and I am confident that one day I too will capture one. At least I know now to keep my gurreck in check before venturing out, meaning not guarding me or leave it out altogether. Btw, the tip I read in a previous post to turn consider on is a good one. I'm a master rifleman and the only thing that would show up as red is indeed the Great Plains Stalker. I'll will try it out immediately tomorrow.
One more thing, at least on Bria I think it roams 1.5 to 2k out from the Lord Nyax Cult POI and if you draw a circle, only in the right half of it because any creatures are rarely seen west of this point. It probably has to do with a player city (Corbana) that is near the river that runs from Corellia all the way up. That is why I was so surprised to find one near another player city (Titan City)southeast of the point.

I really do feal your pain on this situation. They fixed the aggresiveness thing about a month ago but before that and for about 3-4 months the aggresiveness thing was borked and you did not have this baby attacking issue. Well it was during this time I got mine finally.
Before the aggesiveness thing got borked though it was a different story
Read My Story Here:
http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=creature_handler&message.id=173481
Now that aggresiveness is fixed again and even the GPS baby will aggro your only option is to store and call your pet after each spawn just in case the baby shows up.
Another hint I can suggest is when your baby does spawn, tame it from your bike so if it aggo's you, you can make a quick escape without to much trouble. To tame from you bike you cant use the toolbar but instead click on the baby and used the radial selection thing to do it manually.
Also.....if it aggro's you never let it get more than 60-70m behind you or there is a chance it will de-spawn and go poof.
Take Care and Good Luck....You Will Get Him, Trust Me.

Oh yes, did I mention that it likes water, a lot! If you want to have a good change of finding one, stay close to the rivers. At least the last instance was near a riverbank and from what I've read from other posts, other people seem to confirm this more often. I just looked it up, my first encounter was also near a river.
P.S. Sorry for the oversized font used above, I didn't post that much on the forums. Next time I'll simply use the standard font, size and color. Like this.
Fixed it!

Not rare? Not RARE?!
I'm sorry your baby got killed. Really, I am. Trying hard to sympathize, butI've killed 50 spawns with never a single baby. I've killed as many spawns in a single night as it's taken some CHs to find in their entire career before getting a baby (10).
'Not rare' indeed.
I think the problem is Milteck is stealing all my babies. Everytime he tames one on his server, it steals a baby spawn from mine. So far he's got likehalf adozen of my babies.....

Kitoth,
Not rare was not my own statement. I merely reflected the feelings some have about it. I read other posts too you know. Yes it is damn hard to find one and as it turns out now (for me after this encounter)also hard to tame.I did not expect to see a baby with my 2nd spawn only, but then, are we ever truly prepared for such a moment. Looking at the picthe answer would seem no.
Oh yes, I would like to add one final thing. There aren't many creature handlers on my server who actually know what a GPS is, let alone the non-CH's. Most fight with BE pets and do not care about rares at all. Try to sell a truly rare for 500k, clearly what they are worth. People will declare you mad! I've never spoken with someone else who was also looking for this mythical creature. It seems to me in my "short" time as a master I've gotten to know two (make that 3) types of handlers. The tankers only, the ones who merely use their pets (mostly BE like I said before) for getting the first blows and the rarer
rare collectors, of which I ama part. Did I mention the countless dabblers. What's the point of all this? I see this as a challenge for the prof, nothing more and nothing less. So whatever we do have to say about it, don't blow it up, it's not worth it!
Was this always the case in the history of the handler? I suppose yes, but I always love to read some history, so if you have a good story...
We all need challenges in our profs and yes this is a fun one.
Wow, 50 spawns, I have only found two so far, my hat goes off to you.

JCooper2, thank you for the great tip of storing my pet between spawns. Great story btw and the similarities made me think back, except I didn't go down. I just couldn't seperate the two and I spammed /follow often and also ran away in the hopes that my pet would follow, but to no avail.

I methim again today. 1.2k east of the Nyax POI, yes again east. Again near water. And my earlier statement of 1.5 to 2k out seems fraud, make that anywhere between the POI and 2k out. As long as it is near the rivers (walk / ride along both banks) and still on the plains (I've never met them in the woods).
Sadly no babies, but hey I just started looking for real.
Waypoint: 2623 -335
Thanks for the good tips of storing your pet after each fight and staying well clear. If it's an adult again call your pet again. This way you will be sure you won't run into the tragedy I did yesterday, your pet killing of a potential baby.
Oh, and of course with your pet out as well, it cons white. It did for me anyway.
4th time same day, no babies.
