as for the kicking.
i prevent myself from doing so by equipping a 'Taming-CDEF pistol' some crap i looted off of a meatlump but it's low on damage and keeps you from using TKA skills

Instead of a CDEF, you should try using something that you arent certified for, like a D18 pistol. Then repair it till it totally breaks. After all that is done, you should never do more than 1 point of damage, ever...

Whenever attempting to tame a baby, espcially high level aggro creatures, I always have '/peace' ready in my spatial bar. The very moment I see that "you've failed to tame the creature" followed by "a creature has detected you despite your attempts at camoflauge", I simply hit 'Enter' and run. Eventually the baby will break off attack, but as long as you've implemented the '/peace' command, your character will not fight back. Repeat the process when necessary.You just need to be very alert.
If you have the space in your command HUB, you can just place a macro for 'peace' in it. Just remember which one it is as you could easily mis-hit a special attack macro instead of the peace macro.
