Hi, Im a pistoleer/smuggler/novice CH.
This leaves me 17 skill points. Which skills / skilltreeswould you choose in CH to at least get some pets that can hold their own in combat? As you may understand, I'd like to have pets to sick on my enemies and be a little bit away from where the action is and pump them all full of lead (or lasers etc) from a distance.
Any tips would really help!

I would suggest dropping the Pistol and getting Master CH......
But that's just me

That's not a really good TIP though, considering what I was asking for

Sure it is! I started as you did and realized that my pets were far more effective than what I got from pistoleer considering that you already have the best pistol attack from smuggler. My tip was to save you the waste of time I had and just accept that MCH is the way to go.
Really....what good does stopping shot have when you can just pull a Kimo on them and beat the tar out of them? What good do those defenses do for you if you hardly ever get hit because your cat is a great tank? True pets do sometimes autostore, but that is what FD is for!

17 is an akward ammount. Generaly like many skills you get the most milage taking entire lines.
If your dabbling, you are mostly interested in pet storage (the training line) and total pet level (all lines the same) Command wise what you realy will want to do is get a Master CH to train all the commands for you since you won't have them. I'd suggest the training line as it gives you pet storage and the others don't. You get the highest CL spending 15 points to get up to training 4. Then spend your extra 2 points on some other novice profession lv 1 skill box.
