I wanted to start a public project amongst us Handlers. It would be a database that would allow us to cross reference a combat skill such as Commando to a type of pet. This would help us to find the pet best suited to attack/defend against a specific combat profession. I have compiled some pets I use exclusively against some of the combat professions in PvP and PvE and would be happy to contribute to such a listing. What do you think? What do you know?
Example:
Commando Vs Bloodseeker Mite
Why? Acid/Electricc/Heat Resists are 100 and Energy is 40. Alsmost perfect against the main weapons used by this proffession!!! Special attacks are Dizzy Strike and Crippling Strike. Good paired with any combat profession but most excellent when used with Carbineer due to the KD attacks and same focus on the action pool.

This is an excellent idea. Unfortunately I can't contribute since I don't PvP currently (I will if/when there's actually something tangible to gain from it . . . man I miss looting).

TKA Novice at most 2/2/2/2 Vs. War Gronda
Why? Kinetic Resisits are 40% with the special attacks of KD and Stun. CL is only 23 so you can have three out at once at Master level. Great paired with any combat profession. *Special note: Most TKA get a good bonus against the KD attack but with the right macro you can get in at least five KD attacks every 2.5 seconds and they always get put on their butts. You may even be able to get them to fight you with more than one and that will exponentially increase the number of KD attacks spammed at the target. The perfect situation would be to get them to fight against three of the pets and only the pets. This is so fun to watch.

I love War Grondas (have one myself), but isn't Knockdown one of the special attacks that doesn't work with the SpecialAttack training commands?
It's also worth pointing out that gronda movement speed is very slow, and they're notorious runners. I'd put them right up there with Reptilian Fliers as pets who get locked into the "my ideal attack range is too far away, so I'm going to run away to try to get to it" problem.

Actually, I've never seen running be a problem in PvP (note that this is strictly observation, not experience with my own animals), especially against melee. The melee artist tends to stay in the same spot if you let them, so the creatures don't have much trouble getting to range and staying there.
I'd love to know that KD macro for PvE though, since as melee I do more damage to critters on the ground too.

The macro that I use for PvE and PvP are the same. It allows me to spam the living daylights out of my pets special attacks. Once you see it you will understand why it works. You can set this up as a loop but I prefer to have this string written out about five times it looks like a set of holiday lights above your pet the special goes off so many times.

Ah, I see how it works now!!! I don't like setting string macros, but that's something I could do with my hotkeys and fingers with no problem. Thank you very much for the tip!

It forces the program to initiate combat each time with a special. By putting in the follow command without a pause then the special attack command it makes the program think it is a new attack all over again. My combat skill is Carbine so I am not doing massive damage. I rely on my pets to Dot cripple my targets. If the target is stunned, blind, intimidated, bleeding, and poisoned it is less likely to be able to hurt me. All those Dot’s make them miss or unable to attack. If your macro is good then they are constantly being reapplied to the target until they are dead. It’s a good thing.
