Its hard to tell, I think playing for hours with pet in storage helps but not sure. The previous post is correct that the pet has a growth tick every 12 hours.
When I logged on and didn't play that long it took forever for my pets to grow up. But then recently the pets I had suddenly grew up much faster but I was playing longer periods of time. It seems the worse you can do is 2 lvls every 12 hours. However I seem to get these unexplained jumps that I can't put my finger on. I can tell you I don't use the pet at all till full grown and only take it out once a day to see its new size.

Personally, I've noticedthat if I don't log on, my pets won't grow at all, or at least not noticably. So, it probably has something to do with log-in's and time on, like the previous two said.

Hello Ch's ! I've had at least a few boxes of CH in everyone of my characters since the beginning of the game and I have yet to figure out if there is any way to speed up the growing process of a newly trained pet. I've heard everything from "take your pet out as much as you can and that will speed up the growing" to "there is nothing you can do" response.
Anybody really know for sure or at least have some of your own experiences? Mine all seem to vary on how quickly they grow up?!?!

The best anyone has been able to figure is that they'll grow one stage every 12 hours if you log in. If you don't log into the game, the growth rate is slowed, but eventually they'll become full sized within two weeks. Feeding or playing with them doesn't seem to have an effect; it's you being logged in that is the key.
Then again, I had my cosmic ray enhanced rancor that grew from baby to full size in about three days during JTL beta. Don't know if it's because I let him run around my yacht one afternoon. But I tamed him on a Sunday morning, let him run around the Sorosuub that afternoone, and by Tuesday morning he was at CL 50.
Safest guess is to log in once a day, and your baby should be full sized within a week.

I had 2 grauls grow up in one day but there attack damage is still going up as if they were still growing.
