Finally putting caution into the wind, and becoming a CH. Ive always wanted trophys, somethign to stand out above the rest, something to hunt for, after seeing the rare pets list, I think ive found just that. Im turning my character into a total outdoorsman with Master Rifleman, Master CH, and 0030 Ranger.

What creatures have what uses in Combat? What are the oens to stay awya from, and the ones to consider in a fight? I looked through the FAQs and didnt really see anything.

Well the Great Sludge Panther is a pet that everybody seems to have a goal to catch in the start anyways...
And then its the Great Plains Stalker I think.
I just caught my first GSP yesterday so im very happy now

This is really a good question. If I want to go out into the wild and get my own pets, what should I look for? What pets seem to be the most useful to the new CH and for the veterans?

I mastered about 2 weeks ago and have been struggling with this ever since. What pets do I really want because I am VERY limited in what I can have. I wanted a rancor, so I went to dath and found one. He's an interesting pet. He's big, tough, deals tons of damage and seems to be as dumb as a post. I kinda hate him at this point. He has a mind of his own and that has gotten me incapped a few times :/ Is this a good pet to have? I have no idea.

I've been alternating between using my Kwi Pack Leader, a Blurg (sp?) and a few different types of Mereks (lvl 40 delirious mereks have armor & 45% kin, but not much else). In addition to that big creature, I've been riding around on a Giant Carrion Spat (they don't have to swim lol). This combination comes to 52-62 creature lvls out. I find that the big guy is durable enough to do the light PvE that I do, and when I want to get missions, I just pull another small guy out to put the level up to 70 & get the best missions I can.

Without having to resort to swgcreatures.com to search for the best pet by the numbers, I'd like to hear some of the veteran CHs opinios as to what pets and pet combinations work the best (and when they work the best)

I've always been fond of my crystal snake mountain dewback boar wolf combo. The boar wolf has great resists and HAM to tank well, The mountain dewback can dizzy, the crystal snake provides artillery and sometimes poison, and both the crystal snake and boar wolf do stun. Its always worked well in pve for me.

Well, as far as my data pad goes it's stocked with a team of everything from rares to extremly common. It's all about body types foe me. Ranged attack pets are my fav because I'm a Swordsmen. I think it's good to have a few high level pets, a few mid ranged, and a few just for fun.

I'm still working my way up the chain and I don't think I'm going to have enough skill points to master (I like my ranger skills too much). But my goal is to get above lvl 40 with two pets out and use matching mountain dewbacks. One can use sp2 = dizzy and the other can use sp1= knockdown. Has anyone done something similar? Does it work as I expect it to? I know I hate when my character is both dizzy and knocked down, so does using these pets cause the same effect on others?

creature KD is broken, it won't do anything on command .

My favourite creature for combat is a Grendel with Ham 8.000 and Dizzy Attack.Dizzy Attack + Carbineer's Charge Shot is a very good combo.

On FarStar: MYLO EXAGONALIS ---> Mon Calamari Pikeman / Doctor.

On Chimaera: JANTO KORMAKIS ---> Human Commando / Rifleman / Squad Leader

The solution is called: Dizzy & Cripple Strike. the 1st make the target dizzy, the 2nd make it posture change down. Once it's down, and get up, they fall = knocked down . Works often. But it's seems to be bugged like the kd from tk. Once I succed 1 kd, and a following 2nd kd, the target stands immadiately. So try to avoid succes 2 cripple strikes!

Did you ever notice that all the strongest CH pet attacks are ALL broken?

I find it hard to believe that is by accident.

Well.....IMHO all you really need is a BE cat. *Or a pack of them) You can get them made with light Armor, Great HAM, decent damage and specials (Including poison) and they are fast as heck. It's fun to get a large pet like a Kimo or Rancor...but mostly for looks (I like to walk into a city or outpost with a large pet in tow just for fun). I don't like to fight with my big guys though.......they have a tendency to get stuck...expecially in small places. Cats are fast, small, and can be made quite nicely by a Master BE.

Once you're master or close to it, I find that Bio Engineered armored twins are the most efficent. If you use "embolden" before you send them to battle then support them with rifle, you can do a number of missions before they are too hurt to continue (assuming you cant heal them, as your post indicates).

Also, if you get just their con and stamina buffed by a doctor, they will heal up qickly after battles and you won't have to worry about swapping pets until the buffs run out.

Two mid range armored pets will last much longer thanone large armored pet, and you can mix and match specials to get more effects. I can get my opponent stunned, dizzy, intimidated and blinded within the first few seconds of a battle. Stun and intimidate specials really mitgate the damage pet takes also.

Just don't count on the pets killing your enemy quickly without your help. Usually armored twins have to sacrafice alot of damage to get the armor at that level. Plus any mid-ranged combat class can produce 4-5 times the damage output as best pet combo if the player has a decent weapon (due todamage multipiers mixed with speed bonuses and armor peircing).
