If you had 46 skill points to use on creature handling, what would be the best way to spend those points?

I'm working on a new template. I've left MBH behind and I'm picking up some ranger skills.

I'll have

Master Pistols

Master Scout

Ranger 0-0-4-0

Novice Medic

this leaves 46 points - it thought this would be well spent in creature handling since i can get a bunch of CH skills (allowing a decent level pet and some decent commands)

i could go 4-3-1-2 on CH and have0 points left over.

any comments or suggestions are welcome.

thanks.

are there any creature handlers with any thoughts on how to spend 46 skill points in CH?

thought about it, with 46 skill points and your current template I would either do one of two things:

THIS:
CH to 3404 (or 0434, up to you, the first if you want to tame low-level vicious creatures, though can't train tricks) allowing you to tame some creatures, but mainly relying on MCH to train for you. Allows up to two pets out with max CL of 43. It would be easier to find two good pets for this than my option below...

OR THIS: (grab more medic to help your pets out)
CH to 0404, medic up to 2200 (or your choice, but it would probably leave a couple skill points open)
^^allows you to have two pets also, but with CL 36 max. a good BE could make you two level 18s with light armor and good kinetic resists at least, if you don't mind the super-staggered HAM bars. The medic I like to have to be able to stop bleeding w/o storing them, and heal them better and faster along with pet stims (I have medic 2040 for stimDs).

EDIT: I would at least go up two two tier IV boxes, as they give the biggest benefit for max level of pets. Of course, that's just my opinion .

It is a long road, but man the profession rocks. IT is nerfed to heck right now and not very useful, but easily the most rewarding profession.

If you have a MCH friend, I'd go 4-4-0-3, and let the MCH teach your pets the Empathy commands (tricks, Embolden, and Enrage). That will give you a strong Vicious Taming modifier at Taming 4, a generous inventory with Training 4, and the ability to pull out two pets with Management 3. And you'd be able to use CL-43 pets, which will get you up into light armor for natural pets, and some very nice BE'd pets. Natural pets you could tame would include:

  • Arachne Warrior: CL 42, light armor, 10k HAM, 30% kin/energy and 60% heat/cold/acid resists, and Blind/Strong Poison for special attacks

  • Delirious Merek Avenger: CL 40, light armor, 10,700 HAM, 45% kin and 5% bl/h/c/elec/acid, and Stun for special attacks

  • Merek Cavern Creeper: CL 40, no armor, 10,300 HAM, 40% kin and 30% everything else but LS and cold, and Blind and Intimidate for special attacks

  • Thune Grassland Guardian: CL 40, no armor, 10,300 HAM, 45% kin, 60% energy, and 30% blast resist, and Dizzy and Cripple for special attacks

  • Other pets from CL-34 to 40 include Graul Maulers, Boar Wolf Ravagers, Piket Longhorns, mature Hanadak Rock Smashers, Gian Anglers, Mantigrue Hunters, Gleaming Lantern Birds, and many more.

Too bad you can't squeeze out two more skill points for Management 4. You'll miss out on Toxic Merek Battlelords (CL 45), Gaping Spider Hunters and Recluses(CL 44), and a few others. Ah, well. If you need 'em, you can find some good bioengineered pets.

as far as i know these cannot be taught , and are either a /command or a macro..they do not appear on the radial train commands, you do get a macro though which you can place in the toolbar

You could also go the route of
MasterCH/MasterScout/MasterPistoleer/NoviceMedic & 3 leftover pts.
or
MasterCH/MasterScout/MasterPistoleer/Ranger0030 for tracking.
