Thread: Question on mounts

I'm currently working my way up the CH tree ( 2,2,1,3 ) and tamed both a male Kaadu and a Mountain Dewback in anticipation of mounts being introduced. Now that I see that the "Train Mount" command is at the top of the empathy branch of the tree I know I can't yet train my eligable creatures, and since I don't have management 4 I also can't transfer them yet to a CH who does have the ability. Is there any way then for me to get my own pets trained to be mounts given this situation? I assume not but I figured that it would be best to ask the forum that would know the answer the best! Thanks for your advice.

No.

You're screwed until you can teach them yourself

or wait for mounts to reach reasonable prices and buy one, should take a few days

On the main webpage it says you can take your pet to a creature handler (with the right skill) and you can get your pet trained for mounts. Im still trying to figure out how to do this myself...and the devs haven't seen to given us much info on this topic yet either.

You trade your pet to the CH. He use "train" on radial menu and select "train to mount". Then he returns the mount to you.

That would work for the Kaadu... but does it work for the mountain dewback? I thought once they get over CL15 you can't transfer them without the /transfer command.

Question on mounts.

I was just curios as to how mounts work.

Can you take them off planet? I heard you can "store" them in your data pad. Is this true? Is one species faster than the other? If I have no CH ability what kind of mount should I get?

Do they need saddles? Can i make them myself? are they sold in the bazaar?

The official manual really doesn’t answer any of these questions.

Mounts can be taken off planet by storing them in you datapad

They are different speeds by spiecies, I think Kaadu or Carrion Spat is the fastest.

There are "Non-CH" versions of each of the pets. just make sure it is less than lvl 10 and you are ok without CH skills.

Saddles come on them.

good luck and have fun

I have kaadu lvl 5 of 14, when am i able to train it to be a mount. I don't have the train skill so i can't just wait till the train mount option appears. What is the lowest lvl you can train mounts? I'll eventually get a master ch to train it for me until i aquire that skill. Thanks.

in most cases the animal has to be about 75-80% grown...there are exceptions with different species

A good rule of thumb is to go by when it looks big enough to ride. LOL... for example, a giant carrion spat is mount-trainable even as a lvl-1 baby!

For more precise data, check out the database at swgcreatures.com. Do an "Advanced Search," and select the "Yes" option under the field, "Mount Trainable?" for a list of all mountable pets. Then when you click on the creature name and pull up the description, look in the box at the upper right where the HAM numbers are listed. You'll see an entry that tells you the level at which thatcreature can be mount trained.
