it seems to me rare pets seem to grow incredibly fast, and i for one don't like it, hehe... my gps was fully grown in 3 days, my bull rancor 3 1/2 days, and now my wild dune boar i caught yesterday, went from level 5 to level 25 today..i liked having a little piglet, but today it's the size of a desert razorback..i also enjoyed the brief period of having a gps kitten..why are we not allowed to enjoy this? what benifit does it serve to make some pets grow much faster then others...mounts seemingly grow very slowly, because we want them to grow..rares grow up too fast...it isn't like i can't wiat to put my WDB into combat, if fact it will likely never see combat..so why can't i enjoy it as a baby for a bit?

I can't figure it either. Myhigh-level pets grow like 10 levels a day, yet a CL 10 squall takes over a week to get to it's full size.

Only thing I can figure is that creatures will grow a % of their final CL each cycle, and so higher CL creatures grow at bigger chunks than lower ones.

That would be the logical way to do things and as such not the way this game was apparantely designed. If every creature grew, say 20%, a day that would mean that a CL10 would grow 2 levels a day and a CL50 would grow 10 levels a day. Each creature would be full grown in 5 days. The CL50 would grow more per day, but it would still take the same amount of days to grow as the CL10, because they both grow the same percentage of total level each day. This is not how it works in this game. In my experience upper level pets seem to be full grown in 2-4 days while lower level pets can take up to a week to fully mature. It appears that as CLs rise so does the percentage of growth each day. So a CL50 might grow 16 levels a day, where a CL10 might grow only 1 or 2 levels a day. To me this makes no sense as my built in assumption is that the more powerfull a pet is the longer it will take for me to be able to use it to it's full potential.

Now, I'm definatly not a zoologist, but it seems to me that most real creatures have the opposite growth characteristics. It seems that the larger a creature is the more time it takes to reach maturity, not the reverse. Now I'm not saying that I want a computer game to mimic real life (most of the time I want otherwise), but I would like a game that builds off of people's built in assumptions. Most people assume that a single person cannot withstand a creature 3 times their hieght with teeth the size of their arms for very long. Most (sane) people assume that such a person would be swollowed up in a matter of seconds, but that is not how this game works. People solo Kryats all the time. Not that I mind this per se, but it would be nice if a large group is needed to tackle them, this would build off of people's assumption that someone cannot stand up to such a creature for very long and so would make sense to people right off the bat.

Sorry for the tanget, back on track. Most people assume that the larger a creature it is the longer it will take the grow, but the opposite is true. Not that I personally mind to have my Gurreck grow in 3 days, but my built in assumption is that it will take far longer for such a strong beast to fully grow. I've found that most of this game (and the keyword here is game, I admit) is not built off of peoples built in assumptions about how worlds work, but is simply built around how the developers envision their world working. Not that that's wrong, it's just the way it is.

I agree with you Turbana, higher CL pets do seem to grow faster than lower ones... I just didn't want to assume as such in my post as I had no specific evidence to cite.

I thought it was just something weird in JTL beta, but when I tamed a blurrg, it grew as fast as a rancor I tamed in JTL beta...in about 3 days. OTOH, a lesser dew tamed to be a non CH mount takes a week to get to full size. My swamp stalker took about 5 days to grow to full size, faster than the lesser dew, slower than the blurrg or the rancor.

yeah turbana, i agree with your previous post..the growth is divided into 10 segments..so a lvl 50 should grow 5 cl each time..sometimes however they grow ,as my wdb did yesterday 5 segmants in one day, and another 2 today..this pet is about 48hrs old and is 35 of 50 or 7 of 10...it bothers me more than it should, but it is a pet peeve of mine..i think it should take 10 increments for you creature to reach full size..not 5+2+3...

Ok, I have a theory here, but it is just that, a theory. From what I've seen, I suspect that some pets grow more as you pay attention to them. For example, I tamed a rhoa kwi pack leader recently, but I havn't paid much attention to it, so its growing like a snail so far (I'd say 5, 10 levels a day, out of 50.) This could be the same thing with the low-high level thing. As a high-level handler, you'd be more anxious to look and, and presumably show off, your high-level tames, so they would grow faster. On the other hand, you wouldn't be terribly inclined to look at a non-CH mount much, so they grow slower. As far as I can tell, with many of mine, the % it grew each day did depend, at least partially, on how much I took them out and/or commanded them. I've never actually tested this, but I do think attention plays a big role in it.

i had thought of that..it makes sense, the show of pets, would be called more often, or be left out more often...the pig in question was tamed, stored, called to train, stored and called one more time to show him to a friend...it was out for no longer then 5 min each time..hed to log and next dy level 5 turns into levl 25..if calling the pet twice makes it grow to 50% of it's full size, wouldn't that be considered a 'sploit of some kind?..if i did it 10x would it be full grown?..this may be the case, i just don't understand why, or agree with it..there has always been speculation that combat influenced the growth, but this pet didn't see any, was only called twice...strange indeed

It's been my experience that higher level pets tamed in the wild just inherently grow faster than their BE'd cousins. I always found it odd, but just figured the game was working as designed. /shrug

Growth is random to me. I had an experience that describes it quite well earlier today.

A few days ago, I tamed a Mammoth Jax. Last night, it was at Lv. 8, growing about 2 levels a day. I log on this morning, and all of a sudden it's fully grown at lv. 18. The rest of the newly tamed pets in my datapad did this same thing overnight, so it's not single-pet-specific. Maybe it has something to do with the server?

I've found that if you call your pets out and especially if you use them in combat and feed them, they'll boom on you.

This goes for anything, the more CH xp you generate (even if you're capped) will increase the growth rate of your stored pets.

It's not something I've experimented with so I might be wrong, but after one year as a MCH this is what I'm inclined to believe.
