Read the FAQ and the CH guide stickied at the top of the page and did not see this.
I just made novice ch. I bought a +25/+25 wild/vicious taming shirt. So my wild taming ability is now at 30 (+5 from novice + 25 from shirt).
I bought a BE pet. It is a QL 18 Blurrg. I found the icon sitting in my inventory. I tried the tame option from the radial menu from the pet, and got a message saying that I do not have enough skill to tame this pet. I was wondering how much skill I need to tame a ql 18 BE pet? Thanks for any help.

Is your max CL above 18? How much of the CH skill tree do you have?

As a novice CH, you can only tame up to CL 12. You can tame higher level petsas you get more skills, and your skills window will tell you much more each skill lets you tame/control level wise. The short answer for you, though, is that if you have novice CH, you'll need 3 skills to tame CL 18.

CL and taming ability are different. The BE clothes increase your chance to tame creatures, but not your max level. At novice you can only tame CL 12 pets. Wild kaadus (female I think) and wrixes are CL 12. However, hold onto those clothes as they become very important as you level up CH. Hold onto the BE pet until you get your max level of pets over 18, which would be level one in three of the trees.

Hello m8,
If you just got noviceCH then the maximum level of pet you can control is 12 , you ll need the 4 first boxes of ch to "tame" it ( each giving +2 levels of creature control )
The +25 clothing you got doesnt mean you gain +25 levels of creature, but a +25 bonus on taming. This bonus will increase the odds of taming a wild creature you can actually control or the ease to teach pet commands the first time.
ex : in the first box of first branch---> "Creature taming I ", you can see:
"taming wild creature +5"
"maximum level of pet +2 " <---- this the bonus you need to upgrade to gain control of your CL18 blurrg
Novice ch = lev12 creatures max
CH 1000 = lev 14 creature , CH 1100 = lev 16 creature and so on .
For your blurrg you ll need CH 1111
Dont think you wasted money on bio cloth though, it will save you a lot of time on taming success and attempts to teach comands to your pets

Thank you very much for the help. So my plan is to go 0/2/3/1 in CH. Can I use a ql 30 BE pet if I get a MCH to tame the animal for me? Does ability to use a pet and the ability to tame a pet the same? For instance right now I am using a ql 19 droid, so could I get a MCH to train the ql 18 BE pet for me and I could actually use it? Thanks.

typo correction you ll need either 1110, 0111 , 1011 or such and not 1111 ( CL20 ) sorry

Well, theoretically, a higher-level CH could tame your pet for you and let you use it. However, the taming level mod also effects control, so after he outgrew you, you couldn't use him again until you got to the point where you could use a CL 18 (or whatever interem level he is that you can't control) pet. I really don't recommend it, though.
Oh, almost forgot, if you only get that many skills, you can only control up to CL 25, if I count right. Each level 1 and 2 skill is worth 2 taming points, level 3 is worth 3, and level 4 is worth 5. I don't remember master, but if I count right, you can't use a BE lvl 30 once its fully grown at that level (with the template you proposed).

And see this is what is so damn confusing. Anybody can use a ql 10 non ch pet. So I thought that a +25 to the already basic 10 level made it to a max ql of 35. But in reality I start at zero for ch pets, so when I become a novice my ql goes up from zero to 12. I would be nice if someone added this to the FAQ or the CH guide. Thank you everyone for your help, this is a very nice forum and I can only hope you CH's receive some love from the devs. "SALUTE"
