Alright troops

I just wanted to ask what pets are good to get when you start of at novice. Is it still rock beetle and that cat thing?

Cheers

With the creature changes a few publishes and the re-organization of the CH tree... you can no longer pull whatever gurreck was popular or a rock beetle at novice, nor are those pets useful at any stage of CH.

In my opinion, the best novice or non CH pet (wild... BEs can make better pets but they can get expensive) is the lesser dewback. It has only 900 HAM but it has the highest (15%)kinetic resist of any other pet I can name at the same or slightly higher cl.

I'm afraid I've been a Master handler too long so I don't know what the challenge levels allowed at novice are anymore. If they're still up to 15 you might try a low level CuPa from Tatoinne. I never owned one myself but I've heard nothing but good things about them in terms of aggression. They also have a ranged attack andcan be used as mounts now as you go up the Handler tree and get those commands.

Personally I prefer a little buzz saw called the Swamp Gurrcat from Corellia. They have slightly better stats than a Wrix (a few more hits points and better damage) and have a posture down attack that can be useful if you're fighting humanoid npc's. You can find them as random spawns in the Agrilat Swamp between Kor Valla and Doaba Guerfel and from Destroy Missions in Doaba Guerfel and Bela Vistal if your weapons skills are high enough.

Save up about 30k and get yourself a nice BE made Dewback.

You want it to have high ham, and high kinetic resists ---->ONLY<----. (That way you can get high ham and high kinetic)

Dewback's are very tough and mountable so you will never be without a ride.

Oh, and make sure you get a CL20 pet. You need to remember it will take a week to grow to CL20 so you will have plenty of time to level up.

For me it was a MaleSwamp Tusk Cat, he was level16 and the Robin to my Batman. The resists arent great but I he ran down any and everything that tried to run and shoot (like Swoopers and Meatlumps).

I say, shell out some money and have a Bio - Eng make you a CL12 pet. I had one Kwi which is pretty good. CL10 though. 3.5k HAM 80-90 damage and hmm 5% Kin i think. Use that to get at least3 boxes then upgrade to a CL18 pet. You should be good for awhile with that until you get CL 30 or 32
