Thread: MBH with first pet...

I purchased my first pet a couple of nights ago. This guy was rather expensive (110K credits). I believe he was a Kimogilia (sp?), with an absurd amount of ham points and damage output. However, when I hit the "Tame" radial button on him from my inventory, it says something to the effect of "There is not enough room in your datapad." Sorry, don't have the exact text.
Anyhow, my question is, do I need to do anything special that I'm obviously not getting? I'm a loaner MBH and was looking for some company while out there in the boonies.

May sound like a silly question, but u are a creature handler aren't you? and with points in vicious creature taming? Do u have any points in taming as this increases the number of pets u can store, check your modifier and how many pets u have already, or is it your very first pet ever (in which case how did u get CH)

Uh, oh. It's beginning to dawn on me that I did a very stupid thing. I assumed I could do something with the creature right off the bat. I am MBH/MP, so no skill points for any other stuff. So, now that I have this pet, can I go to a CH to have him/her tame it for me?

If you are not a CH you will never be able to use it (regardless of someone taming it for you). If you want to use the best pets a profession has to offer, you have to spend the skillpoints.
Edit: some helpful info for future pet shopping: as a non-Creature Handler, the maximum level pet (specified by CL) you can use is CL 10. You will still have to have a CH train it to be any use, but you would be able to use it. So be sure to check what the CL on a pet deed is before you buy.

Don't feel bad, this happens all the time. When I 1st picked up Bounty hunter I did the same thing. Hell I had a Rancor in my data pad for months till I had enough CH skill to use him =p
You could get you a decent BE pet that could help ya. Just don't get one of those 9k ham ones, as they will someday be made right and you wont be able to use it. Hope this helps.
