Thread: Growing your pet and taming...pls help.

Hallo guys,
1.I have a little baby carrion spat lvl10... he is doing fine, I'm wondering if I could ever grow him.
I'm sending him into combat and feeding him when he wants.
Is this the way to get him big and strong ??
2.Taming: Can I tame any creature just by using my tame skill? can u give me a 101 on that?
3.CH skills: can u tell me what are the different skills I should get? I got x1xx so far... any particular tree I should go for 1st?

1: He'll grow in your datapad over a few days and as you use him.
2: No you can't tame ANY creature, only tamable ones (babies not adults)and only those your level will allow. At x1xx you can control lvl 14 pets (I think). As you advance you will be able to tame higher levels.
3: I went for xx1x first to get trick 1, that means I ccould heal my pets mind wounds. I then went for 1xxx to tame vicious beasties.
If I'm wrong with these suggestions, the more advanced CH will correct me

You can tame every *baby* depending on your current skill (Max level of pets). You'll see your current level in the Skills Window (Ctrl-S).
3.CH skills: can u tell me what are the different skills I should get? I got x1xx so far... any particular tree I should go for 1st?
I wouldn't train one special tree first. With the current system i'd learn every level complete before going for the next. For the first box of each level i'd take "Creature Taming" first, because of the "Taming vicious creatures" bonus ...
And finally i really suggest you read the stickies first, there are a lot of useful informations

I went xx1x first then worked my way up xxx4 so I could train mounts. I would highly reccomend training one branch all the way firstso your XP cap will be higher.

I'd suggest getting to 1.1.1.1 first, then go up to 1.1.1.3. That would allow you to call 2 pets at once. Thou the combat XP isn't much better with 2 pets, it actually works better if you handle CH the same way I have since I got there.
I go out and catch several babies and store them. Then head for the nearest city. Then I call 2 at a time and train both of them at the same time. It saves time that way.

To answer 4.) I would suggest Creature Management, at lest to 3 right off the bat. The reasons are the very first command you get is group. This means you can get higher paying missions if you don't have a combat proffesion already. It also gives you another command to "teach", resulting in about 100 CH xp each tame. The second box also gets you "follow other" which is another 100 CH xp each tame. I don't use this command that often though. The real reason is the 3rd box allows you to take out two pets at a time, doubling your XP. After that, Creature Taming so you can get the vicious beasties, especially with some nice BE clothing.

Um... maybe it's just me, but I don't get double the XP from having 2 pets out. If I add the XP I get from each one together, I get slightly more than if I would have had 1 out.

While I haven't done the math on this, it is signifigantly more than with one pet. Last night I was on Dath hunting rancors. Initially, I had out a lvl 11 Dewback tanking for me and was getting about 1000 xp per. Then I pulled out two lvl 11 and it was pretty close to 2000 xp total. I will check it out as soon as I can for my own edification.

Grab some +25 BE taming clothes if you can. Best investment I made as a novice and they are stillreally usefulat master for the hard stuff.
I did the first boxes of each tree, then did management, then alternated taming and training, I left the empathy tree til last after box 1 which is essential.
