I wouldn't see why not. I haven't tried this myself, but if the pet is healed every often, I believe it could stand up to an elder.
It must be a good pet though.

Well... hmm... I suppose it might technically be possible... *snicker* if.... you hada master doc standing next to it healing it completely every second. The problem with that is you spend so much time healing the pet, you'll never get any hits in on the elder, and your pet won't do anything to damage them.
But by and large, you're better off getting a novice TKA and having the master doc heal that person instead. Would take less heals since people can have 80% resistances across the board with good composite armor.
I wouldn't even throw my 60% kin, 14k HAM 60CL BE pets at an elder, frankly. They'd last about 5 seconds since Elders:
- Use force powers (no protection to that)
- Don't always use kinetic weapons (stun batons)
-Often use medium armor piercing 2handed weapons
- Use lightsaber specials with regular weapons for massive damage.
Usually what happens with my pets versus ANY nightsister is this.... pet goes to fight, pet tanks for a few, gets force KD, Nightsisters switch to next target that is attacking them (usually me) while pet lies on the ground, pet owner (me) gets free trip to cloner.

I'm going to assume the non-CH pet is a BE pet. A bio-engineer can make a CL10 animal with 60% kinetic and 10K HAM more or less quite easily. These animals are great for pulling and holding aggro if you're working weapons xp.
These animals have no armor, are vulnerable to almost everything else, and don't do a lot of damage. I would never consider them a tank. They are a distraction for the enemy.
On a side note, although I do know how to make these animals I don't make them. I feel they cheapen an already borked profession, creature handler. Why expend skill points when I can own an animal with much more HAM than I have myself completely skill point free? Unfortunately SOE doesn't share my view. I can make a CL10 animal with 1K HAM that will not pass the pet check. If I make the animal with 5K or 6K HAM it will pass the check every single time. I submitted a ticket on this a while back. The official response was "the system is working as intended."

I have made a non-CH pet with 100% stun resistance for NS tanking. I am not sure if my friend wanted that for elders or not, but I was told that as long as NS had a stun baton, it worked pretty well. However, when NS uses force powers, the pet does get damage, so he needed to heal it.
This friend told me that someone had a non-CH pet with 100%blast and 100%stun. I am not a good enough BE to make such a pet though...

being a master doc wont help you any more than being a novice medic, at 4340 medic, with good stimds and petstimcs used in conjunction I can heal for 3k every second or two. Drop doc and pick up a big gun or a sword if you want to fight elders with your pet.
