I sent a PM to vex about this because I didnt want to start a thread on it but i thought why not start a thread

It seems alot of professions are benefiting from being jedi ( ranged def, melee etc ) All but CHs are getting any type of love ( what else is new )

Anyway I thought about this.

Master CH Jedi should have a tree or part of a tree devoted to them that would allow us to *gasp* tame force sensitive creatures.
Maybe some higher level creatures down the road that are FS but we would have to be FS ourselves to tame them.

Thoughts? Maybe this could be put into that tree where a jedi can control our pets? but a req is to be a master ch

HELL NO!

(hmm, can't get my type back down . . . sorry.)

I refure to support anything that is going to excaberate what's already happening with FS. As it stands right now with FS bonus modifiers, you will NEED to be FS to really be a "master" at any profession. They're making it a matter of "you play the normal game until you have the skill to be FS, and FS is the end game". To see what I mean, read the new skills on a character builder.

FS should be an option, not a necessity for high-end content in any class.

well this blows

let me get this straight...people that already grinded and opened their jedi will have 2 characters on that server, but those who wait to do it when the new quests come in will have their jedi as their only person on that server as they are now

Greetings,

I dont think Jedi master ch should be able to control fs creatures or any other creature that is not acquirable by any other master ch.

However I do think Jedi should have the same if not higher taming abilities as a wookiee because it would only make sense that the force would give jedi creature handlers an above average taming bonus. Also I would like to see commands that only a master jedi creature handler could use such as force embolden.

Jedi should be a class unto itself without any correlation to another class. Again, I can't clicky, but go here and select to see FS skills:

http://swgcb.yogn.net/swg-cb.php

As you go through them, you'll notice something. No matter what, someone who is FS is going to be better than you. If they are an FS Weaponsmith, they will be able to make better armor than any other non-FS weaponsmith. An FS Ranger will be better than any other Ranger. An FS healer will be better than any other doctor.

In theory you might say "well duh, they're FS, they have skills we don't". The problem is that things like that will turn our basic professions into nothing more than something you grind through to become FS so you can be as good as everyone else, because everyone else will be FS too; the only difference is that now we don't have to swap out of professions constantly. We shouldn't be forced to become FS to be the best that we can be in our chosen professions. It should be something optional with its own separate benefits from the basic game classes. Jedi/CH, for example, should be able to control animals in the wild for a period of time; they can't store them, transfer them, train them permanent commands, group them for higher missions, or anything like that. But I would VERY much understand a Jedi being able to temporarily control creatures over level 70 . . . and by temporary I mean until the animal dies, theJedi enters a civilized area, the Jedi logs, maybe a check every ten minutes to see if the animal is still under Force control, etc. I actually think this would give them more "CH" creature power than they have now.

I do NOT think that a Jedi should have new commands to be taught to animals, or be able to permanently tame anything that a Master CH can. We really have to be careful here, because if CH/Jedi can do our job better than we can, you know everyone will be running to the Jedi CH and ignoring everyone else. I feel really, really bad for crafters right now, because that's precicely what's going to happen to them.

i dunno crafting proffesions can be tricky. from what i understand on most things they more than max out the experiment bars on most everything, leaving the main quality to depend on resources used. thereby the only thing a jedi would b able to do to be better than other artisans is to have 'ultra survey' skills where they can rip up whole chunks of the server and get like 10k resource a survey.

I totaly agree w/ you blind. In the movie, there's only a handfull of Jedi, the way SOE make it now seem like the entire galaxie is gonna be fill w/ Jedies. Well...... this to me is just bunch of BS, star war universe is a very complex and full of variety universe. Now, the dev are making it into something not, for god sake, the dev should have change the title from StarWar: Galaxi Divided into Force Sensative: Falaxy of Whiner

Just a thought

I agree and thought about that too. Wondering when the new system comes out if CH would have an added bonus. Nothing really huge, just a little more CL or some sort of 'buff' ability (not talking about the embolden type, but something more like a doctor's buff...)

I agree this seems like a bad idea at it's core, i know what your are thinking and all, but I don't think it can work as you stated.
The other thing that concerns me a bit, no offense to you ratlif, is people PMing the Devs on improvments on behalf the CH. Isn't that what we have Vex for? Look, not trying to start a fight here i'm just saying that I thought the whole idea of these boards where for us to debate and express ideas, those that are common amoung us are brouoght to the Devs through Vex. (please don't bombbard me with hate here) I just think there is more of a chance of getting represented wrong. If I'm off bases here I would welcome anyone to point out my mistakes and point me in another direction, i'm very open minded.

I just pmed our correspondent thats all.

But yea, I am just throwing any type of ideas out there, since SOE is entirely focused on Jedis at the moment, thought that might grab their attention in order to throw us a bone, or something.

I may finally give up CH now too. I hardly use my pets anymore and the ones I do have I dont want to use because they are rare.

The only class that maxes out experiment bars on most everything is BE, and that's on chef/tailor tissues. We still use all our points (sometimes) when crafting creatures, and a few times we *choose* to not use them because we can't experiment the pet DOWN (i.e. make it's level go down via experimentation - it always goes up unless there's a critical fail. We're the only class that prays for a crit fail and despairs an amazing success.) Doctor, Weaponsmith, Armorsmith, and Chef will typically use all their experimentation points and not max out the item.
