Thread: Viability of Flying and/or Cat-Type Mounts

I like your idea about sponsoring two models. Maybe three... I just want to see the awkwardness of someone riding Vynock
Like a wookiee trying to balance on it with one foot or trying to make himself as small as possible while he clings to its back

really, the vertical-axis shouldn't matter. just make all the "flying" mounts just kinda hover a few feet off the ground, same as speeders.
they should be master CH only, non-transferrable, and should have more terrain negotiation than anything, cuz like, they're not running. i get that flying up-hill would be harder than downhill, but then you'd have to make them faster at going downhill since they'd just glide. slower going up, faster going down... that's just too much coding to deal with
That's just it, the Y axis matters a lot, because you can't see the barrier. The only reason thatmobs fly so naturally now is because they ignore the Y axis barrier completely on terrain objects . . . things like trees, rocks, logs, etc. We and our pets, however, intersect these objects. Think of those logs that are flat on the ground in the Rori swamps. It makes no difference if you're a Bothan or a Malklok, if you're on a mount or a speeder, you are NOT going over that log, you're going around it. Mr. Squall is going through it, though.
What the devs are saying is that they can't do it right now because they can't disable that Y axis barrier, or we wouldn't have to negotiate around anything. You'd still have to weave around things with your winged mount, and face it, that would be pretty stupid, having to weave around things you can't even see that are the equivilent of ten feet under you.
