With accuracy, speed, and defenses being dropped for the PvP hybreds, as far as I know, our pets will stay the same. This is indeed good news if true.

I truly like being a CH and have held onto it with the hopes that we will again be useful in all aspects of combat. Lets cross our fingers and hope that we do come out better from the combat balance.

This man is brilliant and an inspiration to us all...long live the CH!!!!

Doesn't mean a thing!

Combat Rebalance is a figment of the developers imagination and the imaginary carrot they are holding out to everyone.

Bottom Line, it ain't going to happen before 2005. When it does, there will be a million bugs and the massive whine will erupt from all those flavor of the month professions. But none of this will be heard over the crash and burning of JTL.

....and then no matter how hard we get nerfed, we still keep CH because we are still some of the coolest characters on the game.

What you seem to be forgetting is that the pub 5 nuclear nerfing of CH was the first phase of the "combat rebalance".

We've already been there and done that. Now we're waiting for everyone else to catch up.

We were told in December that the "combat rebalance" would be finished over the next 3 pubishes, in roughly 3 months. Publish 8 was the third publish since 5, and it only went live a month and a half or so ago.

What does this tell you about when everyone else is going to feel the love of the nerf bat? Everyone else except the Jedi, of course. We can't do anything to hurt our precious powergaming asshats, beloved saviors of the SOE marketdroids.

I, too, am optimistic. I think that the nerf to our profession had a positive effect in that it discouraged a lot of dabblers and made the master CH valuable again--to a point. The promise that our pets might one day make a difference in combat again is what I have pinned my hopes on, because PvP is my favorite part of the game.

I don't want to go back to the days where every player had a graul mauler, and I don't want to go back to the days when everyone pointed to MCH and yelled "NERF!" I do, however, want my lovely pets, some finely crafted by bioengineers and some painstakingly tamed from the wildest and most dangerous places in the galaxy, to be properly feared on the battlefield. It is sad when a majestic rancor becomes just a silly afterthought--a mindless robot to be killed in a couple of shots after the enemy has battled me to incap. While I continue to use my pets in combat, I find that their benefit is usually more psychological than anything else. At worst, using my pets can be like leaving my speeder out during a fight--just an extra prize for the enemy to beat on after I'm incapped.

Right now, we all know CH is all but worthless in high end PvP. The combat balance, where as being a nerf for all other combat classes, might actually be some redemption for us.

This thread and the linked thread provide endless possibilities. Just depends on what the devs do. Cross your fingers, but I would like to be more than a meat shield provider. Not everything has to revolve around combat...

Let's not kid ourselfs, if the combat balance works, the calls for our nerfage will start. All of a sudden our pets will be dangerous again, at least somewhat. You will prolly also see MOBs be dangerous as well - no more solo'ingenraged rancor lairs (unless you are a jedi of course)

My Frenzied Graul was nerfed, my Webmaster was nerfed, my BE pets were nerfed, my PVP abilities were nerfed by reducing my Pets strong poison from 100 dmg a tick to 3 dmg a tick! How can you say that our pets/abilities haven't been nerfed? Maybe some or your pets are exactly the same or only slightly higher levels, but mine have simply been SMASHED by the bat.

Keep in mind Jodo doesn't feel nerfed because he views Creature Handler as solely a support profession. He does all the damage instead of relying on pets whereas many of us used our pets as a primary combat profession.

They still tank, he still kills. To him, there was no nerf. To us, there was.

Maybe you didn't feel it Jodo because it wasn't your main class. If you depended on those creatures to be as strong as they were because that's all you had, you were screwed. They lost their armor, their power, their resists, and reset in CL, the latter for no reason other than too many people were walking around with them for certain people's tastes. That's also when XP went out the window. I was probably halfway through my way to Master when that patch hit and believe me, you knew the difference.

Sorry, I'm not optimistic. I think we're done for. I think that either 1.) They'll ignore that we're already reballanced and bring us down the exact same amount as the other classes AGAIN or 2.) they'll nerf us immediately afterword wonce everyone starts complaining. I know I'm looking at other games already after the Jedi fiasco, and they just haven't launched yet . . . they don't have to push me too far, that's all I'll say.

What am I missing? What got nerfed in this patch? Let me tell you I was a Master CH when this patch came out, and I never even really felt the effects except that GSP's and GW's went up in CL so I couldn't call 3 of them anymore. The only people that should be crying nerf are the people that were dabbling. You know the people that would take the left two lines of CH and be pretty much as effective as a Master CH.

I think most people are confusing the fact that between armor, defense stackingand buffs, players are able to tank for themselves sopets aren't needed anymroe. Nothing's been nerfed in the CH profession except maybe some non-CH BE pets

Every creature below CL 40 but ONE (the riverside sulfer mynock) that had light armor had it removed.

GSPs and Grauls were significantly altered in their kinetic resists.

It was a tremendous nerfing of all creatures. Devastating in the way it stripped many creatures of what they brought to the combat table: their ability to tank. GSPs and Grand Wrix were made LESS effective in combat, but their CLs were raised. Numerous other creatures had their CLs raised by one or two points with no other change to them simply to make it harder (more SP expenditure required) to call them.
