Thread: What does the Combat Balance mean for CH?

Right now, we all know CH is all but worthless in high end PvP. The combat balance, where as being a nerf for all other combat classes, might actually be some redemption for us.
With accuracy, speed, and defenses being dropped for the PvP hybreds, as far as I know, our pets will stay the same. This is indeed good news if true.
I truly like being a CH and have held onto it with the hopes that we will again be useful in all aspects of combat. Lets cross our fingers and hope that we do come out better from the combat balance.
This man is brilliant and an inspiration to us all...long live the CH!!!!![]()

I don't want to go back to the days where every player had a graul mauler, and I don't want to go back to the days when everyone pointed to MCH and yelled "NERF!" I do, however, want my lovely pets, some finely crafted by bioengineers and some painstakingly tamed from the wildest and most dangerous places in the galaxy, to be properly feared on the battlefield. It is sad when a majestic rancor becomes just a silly afterthought--a mindless robot to be killed in a couple of shots after the enemy has battled me to incap. While I continue to use my pets in combat, I find that their benefit is usually more psychological than anything else. At worst, using my pets can be like leaving my speeder out during a fight--just an extra prize for the enemy to beat on after I'm incapped.
They still tank, he still kills. To him, there was no nerf. To us, there was.

What you seem to be forgetting is that the pub 5 nuclear nerfing of CH was the first phase of the "combat rebalance".
What am I missing? What got nerfed in this patch? Let me tell you I was a Master CH when this patch came out, and I never even really felt the effects except that GSP's and GW's went up in CL so I couldn't call 3 of them anymore. The only people that should be crying nerf are the people that were dabbling. You know the people that would take the left two lines of CH and be pretty much as effective as a Master CH.
I think most people are confusing the fact that between armor, defense stackingand buffs, players are able to tank for themselves sopets aren't needed anymroe. Nothing's been nerfed in the CH profession except maybe some non-CH BE pets

Every creature below CL 40 but ONE (the riverside sulfer mynock) that had light armor had it removed.
GSPs and Grauls were significantly altered in their kinetic resists.
It was a tremendous nerfing of all creatures. Devastating in the way it stripped many creatures of what they brought to the combat table: their ability to tank. GSPs and Grand Wrix were made LESS effective in combat, but their CLs were raised. Numerous other creatures had their CLs raised by one or two points with no other change to them simply to make it harder (more SP expenditure required) to call them.
