Just curious... I'm sitting on a lair right now (Bria Server), and just tamed myself one. I've seen talk of them being sought-after pets, but I'm lost. Do these things just never spawn, or what's the deal?

They're a big cu-pa,mountable and don't make large wookiees look silly when they sit on them....

Its Bigger. you look more like Han Solo on a TaunTaun, than Chewbacca on the neighbors dog.
With the normal CuPa, you have the feeling of your feet dragging along the ground, even if you
are no Wookie/Trandoshan.

Exactly. They're a CH-only pet as well as my riding pet of choice.
They're not particularly rare just rare to see someone riding one near civilization.

Yeah some people have a hard time finding these Wasteland Cu Pa's but only because of lack of information.
I found two of them in north central Tatooine, far north. I've been back and they are always there. There is a big difference in size between the normal and wasteland cu pa. I ride around with my wasteland cu pa as a mount and people are impressed.
And the wasteland travels much much better up mountain sides.

There was a mount/speed thread on here a while ago but I don't know where it is now ( I hate the searches...never work for me).
I believe that the Wastelands are supposed to be faster in hilly areas than other mounts too? I have not mounted mine yet as I just got him yesterday but I will try it and let you know when I do.

The Wasteland Cu Pa's are quicker up the hillsides than the regular Cu Pa. Read my post a few threads up.
