I was advised by a Master CH on eclipse (sorry i cant remember your name dude) that the best thing to go up in first is the last one(forget what its called) take that up to 3 as it will allow you to group with your pet and get better missions.

personaly i'm going 2/0/0/0

once i hit that mark I'll go for the grouping thing. I just want to be able to tame wild creatures first

With the skill mods spread out across all 4 trees, it doesn't matter so much as it once did; however, if you have certain goals in mind you can focus on those trees first. Such as if you want to be able to tame aggressive creatures well, throughout your progress as a CH I would go up the left tree first (only one which gives the +skill bonus to taming vicious creatures). If your priority isto be able to use more than one pet at a time take the right tree first as you get the ability to have a second pet active there (this used to be the main focus of those going for master CH as having 2 pets wouldincrease the CH xp gained through combat, but now that there is a xp decrease per petwhen using multiplepets, it is just a preference of if you would like to be able to use pet combinations). Also if your priority is collecting pets of different kinds instead of just the common ones which work well upgrade the 2nd tree (from the left) first as that gives the most increases to your stored pet capacity. Although if you prefer capturing and taming new babies for most of your experience the 3rd or 4th tree (again from the left) would probably be best since then you have more commands to teach each baby tamed.

Just my thoughts, do with them what you will.

Hi there.

What the others have said is on the spot but I will share my lessons with you too.

Use a low level (10-12) pet to get hits on bigger mobs for xp (off topic but helpful). You only need to get one hit on a mob by your pet to get full xp. This is great if you are using a fast pet and have another combat prof. Just leave your pet by your side until the mob is almost dead...send him in for one lick and you get good xp.

As for the blocks. I leveled evenly but can see the merit to some of the arguments although I wouldn't recommend going up the 3'rd or 4'th tree first. The reason being is that grouping doesn't help xp wise and I don't think you will see any mission improvements by grouping with low pets. The 3'rd block doesn't give you as many commands to teach new pets (and thus less xp from the tame-release method).

If you level the first two blocks together not only will you be able to tame vicious critters but you will be able to store more. Get critter xp from combat but all the while keep an eye out for babies. Tame them and store them as they come out, but don't train them. I would fight til I couldn't fight or had to log then go to a starport. Whenever you are waiting on a shuttle to go back and train or whatever, whip out those stored pets and get a few thousand xp while you wait.

Hope this helps.

Good luck and enjoy the CH prof!

The direction I took wasan evenapproach mostly. But I did max out my Taming tree first followed by maxing out Training and then Management and lastly the Empathy tree.

But I did attack and concentrate on Taming first. Storage was huge in my opinoin. And as a master creature handler STORAGE is critical.

I went 0/0/1/1 first so I could train group and tricks, and then went up training with one block of taming, for more commands for training babies. Then I went up taming, and now I'm working on management. It all depends on what you're looking forward to doing most with your pet.

I'm getting all the ones that give you commands first, then the last one, like this

0/1/0/0 for a new command and more pets
0/1/0/1 Group
0/1/1/1 New command
1/1/1/1 Finish line
1/2/1/1
?/2/?/? Not sure which ones will have new commands..

But then again, I tame/train/release for XP.

It used to make a huge difference which line you pursued, and you may want to go up one branch for SP conservation reasons still. The other advantage is that it will raise your call level faster for fewer SP committed, and that may well be important to you, if you just have to be able to call say a GSP or Grand Wrix as soon as you can.

Getting the trickone command is important to heal your pets mind. The group command is very handy too.

However, storage is really the most critical thing, since having two pets out at once (Management III) no longer gives you a bonus to XP accumulation. Unless you are intent on controling vicious creatures, I'd stress the training line over the taming line to get more pet storage.
