A long time ago, in a galaxy far away...
It was a time of rejoicing, for the release of Star Wars Galaxies brought Star wars into the growing world of the MMORPG.
Bounty Hunters, crafters, entertainers and a host of other professions were available to play, all of them tailored to the Star Wars universe. Only one among them stood out as unique, the Creature Handler.
Hidden in the wilds of Dathomir were the Rancor, one of the most famous of all creatures of the Star Wars universe. Many Creature Handlers thought they had the skill and courage to travel to Dathomir and search for the Rancor. Many went. Few returned.
Those that returned came back with many wonderous creatures. Among them were baby Rancor. A few lucky ones returned with a Rancor larger and fiercer than any others seen. These became known as Bull Rancor.
Bull Rancor quickly became a dominant force on the battlefield. Skilled Creature Handlers could use three of them at once. Times were good.
And then came the dark times, the Great Creature Handler Nerf.
Creature Handlers lost the ability to use several powerful creatures at once. Their pets become mere shadows of the power they once had when their abilities were reduced. Creature Handlers became the outcasts of the game, shunned by most groups in favor of more powerful profesions like the triple defense stacked swordsman.
But the spirit of a Creature Handler is strong and their faith in their pets is stronger than a Jedi and their limited understanding of the Force.
For over a year, the Creature Handlers were promised changes to make their profession appealing to others. The collective voices of the Creature Handlers cried out, but nobody cared.
And then came the Combat Revamp, where what remaine dof the proud Creature Handler was stripped away when their pets lost the ability to use their special attacks in combat.
But when times were the darkest, when all hope seemed gone, there came a shining beacon of light. The Creature Handler Revamp, promised for over 18 months, had arrived.
Creature Handlers once again regained their position of honor as the unique heroes of the Star Wars Galaxies universe. Their pets, weakened by the Great Nerf and the Combat Revamp, gained the ability to grow and learn.
Times were good.
And then on a volcanic planet few knew of, a hero once though lost had returned. Those Creature Handlers brave enough to help this Jedi Knight redeem himself for his failures in life would receive a reward that they had wanted since the launch of the game.
They would earn a reward that would grant them the ability to tame babies up to level 80.
And then the treachory of the Sith unveiled its presense. Those that earned the reward would only be able to use it until Novemeber 15, 2005. Their profession was deemed insigificant next to the power of wealth and greed.
Stand tall these last few days, you're all that's left of a unique profession. Cherish these last weeks because we are all that is left of the most feared profession that had to be nerfed into oblivion far harder than any so-called Jedi nerf.
To those of you with a little thing that says:
...has mastered the Creature Handler Profession.
/salute
It was a fun ride while it lasted.

*IF* I stay with this game I think I will wear the MCH tag to remind others of what once was and warn new players to not be too attached to professions that might soon never be.
