Creature Handler Archive

I tried searching for some info on the pet trade-in process, but what i found was kind of vague (when the search worked that is) I have some pets from over a year ago back when i was a master CH. Things like levisquall and giant crystal snakes. I am very attached to them and cannot bring myself to delete them. If i use the pet trade-in system, will i get the same creature back, just with lower stats? Would hate to trade my GSP in for a cl10 cu-pa. Thanks for any help or advice you can give me on this matter.
